Can't login from Windows PC to Samba using ADS?
I hope this is the right place to post this. I am running SuSe 8.2 Linux on an IBM 1 gig processor at work. I installed samba 3.0.5 on it and followed the instructions in the online book "Samba-3 by Example" for chapter 9 "Active Directory Domain with Samba Domain Member Server <http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#adssdm>" to the tee (of

Samba3.0.1pre1 winbind failing against domain groups(ADS)
Winbindd is having trouble finding the Domain Admins group in my domain. It appears to be searching for the group but does not show what domain it's looking into - then it tries the local PC (ANC-Gentoo): log.winbind: [2004/01/07 13:20:43, 3] nsswitch/winbindd_group.c:winbindd_getgrnam(237) [23792]: getgrnam Domain Admins [2004/01/07 13:20:43, 5] nsswitch/winbindd_acct.c:wb_getgrnam(522)

Domain member help
Greetings, I'm new to Samba and I'm wondering where I went wrong.... My setup: Two FreeBSD 5.1 machines Samba 3.0.1r2 from ports collection One tdbsam domain controller and one member server - domcon and memsrv My problem: I've been working on this for a few days and still scratching my head. I can view the base directory of the member server (only as root). But when I try to

Windbindd restarts and lost uids
We have a problem with our setup that exposed another problem in winbindd. Setup: Samba 3.0.1, openLDAP 1.2.23 for idmap backend using port 1389, security=ads (w2k). All works after we get the daemons started successfully. The first issue has to do with the initial setup of both a Samba server [smbd, nmbd, winbindd, slapd], and a Samba client [just nmbd and winbindd]. We do the

winbind: getent passwd displays the user, but SAMBA says Get_Pwnam_internals didn't find user
SAMBA 3.0.21c (domain is LINBOXTEXT) Windows 2000 SP4 (domain is ADTEST) Hello, I've established an interdomain trust relationship between SAMBA and Windows. Samba domain users can log into the Windows domain, but Windows domain users can't log to the SAMBA server. For example, if I try to log as "ADTEST/dupond" from Windows to SAMBA, SAMBA log says: [2006/11/15 20:17:05,

Joining Domain on Solaris, Get_Pwnam_internals didn't find user
Hi I am running samba 3.0.22 on Solaris 10 x86, using a Sun Directory Server as ldapsam backend. The samba schema used is the recent version from .22, and I am using the IDEALX smbldap-tools 0.9.2. I split users, computers and groups into 3 different OUs and configured samba, smbldap-tools and Solaris ldapclient respectively. smb.conf: ldap suffix = dc=new10,dc=com ldap user suffix =

Getting Samba 3 to communicate with Win2k3 ADS
I'm having a *terrible* time trying to get Samba 3 to communicate with my Windows 2003 Active Directory Server (the primary and only domain on my network). Basically this is what I'm trying to do: create a Linux File Server to replace my old WinNT 4 File Server. I would like it to show up under all my XP clients on network neighborhood just like the old server, with each account on my

Order of getpwnam call in Get_Pwnam_internals.
My system is not only for CIFS/SMB/domain features , sometime I need to disable DC so I have to keep local user in /etc/passwd. I have download samba source code and build it. I modify the order of getpwnam call in source3/lib/username.c then solve the problem. I have checked the following list : https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2008-March/058508.html I think this is same problem.

Crashing in Get_Pwnam_internals
I have two samba servers with pretty much identical setups (same smb.conf, smbd, winbindd, libnss_winbind.so binaries), joined to the same domain, one of which works, one doesn't. I'm seeing smbd crashing when I try to connect to the problem server with the following information in the logs. OS is Solaris 10 update 5 samba is a repository snapshot that Volker pointed me at to resolve an

winbind authentication FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER [samba 3.6.12/AD/openindiana(illumos)]
Hi, My OpenIndiana (opensolaris) machine is joined to Active Directory. I'm using samba 3.6.12 from OpenCSW. wbinfo -u is working fine, getent was not working in the beginning, but after some fiddling with libraries it was working ( I had to create the following two symbolic links, not sure if they both are correct) /lib/libnss_winbind.so -> /opt/csw/lib/libnss_winbind.so.1

latest version (3.0.2a) on AIX 5.2 ML2 segmentation fault and core dump
First off, let me state that I am not a C programmer at all. I am a programmer in other languages, so I understand the basic configure/make/make install procedure for most GNU packages, and have done it lots of times. I downloaded the GNU iconv libraries, compiled them and used --prefix=/usr/local/special to keep from replacing the standard AIX libraries. Then I downloaded the 3.0.2a source and

SID-UID mapping issue on Samba 3.0.4 in an AD Domain
I have problems with SID to UID mapping using winbind on a FreeBSD 5.2/Samba 3.0.4 as a member server of a Win2k domain controller. I use heimdal-0.6.1 for kerberos. I would like my XP machines in the domain to use the share with the user accounts defined in Active Directory. At a first glance it seems to work: the connection to the share succeeds without a prompt for a password. Users may
