two interfaces with private Ip (rfc1918) on both side and dhcp issue
Hello all,
I''m using shorewall on a linux machine that has two interfaces, eth0
being connected on the internal network (10.10.10.0/24) and eth1 being
connected to the external network.
On eth0 the IP is statically configured to 10.10.10.254 and there is a
dhcp server running for the machines in the private network.
On eth1, the IP is dynamically assigned by my ISP modem that acts as

Problem authenticating against a W2K server
Hi there.
I'm having a problem letting a Samba server (MYSAMBA) authenticate users
(using "security = domain" and a "password server = MYPDC") against a
Windows 2000 PDC (MYPDC). The Windows 2000 machine seems (I'm not 100%
sure about this) to be configured to restrict anonymous and it seems to
me that this is where the problem lies but don't know what to do.

How to save graphics in portable way in batch mode?
Hi all,
What is the right portable way to save graphics
in batch mode?
Remarks:
1. Problem is STFWed and RTFMed. In particular a short note
about png() is found in R-FAQ. In fact, there were stated
that png() is not reliable under Linux in batch mode.
2. savePlot under windows is quite convenient, but
not supplied under Linux.
3. pdf() + postscript() < savePlot()

increasing space available for labels
I've got a graph with really long labels. I've tried decreasing the
font size, but they're still getting truncated. I've RTFMed & it
seems that mgp should have something to do with this, but I can't make
it work. I need about 2-3x as much space for labels as is available
by default (or on the example below).
boxplot(split(ranks,c(1:25)), names=items, horizontal=F)

Hello -
I am using kernel 2.4.27 and running into behavior I don''t know how to
explain.
I have 2 relevant interfaces. eth0 is external, eth1 is internal. My
internal LAN is 10.10.10.0/24. My External range is 1.2.3.0/27 (dummied

new server: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I've googled, RTFMed, and I still can't fix this. Hoping someone here
can offer a suggestion. I'm learning, so please explain a little if you can.
I installed samba on a Ubuntu 5.10 machine (named mog). My XP machine
"sees" it, but the username/password dialog fails.
I've traced it down to what I think is an authentication problem:

getting rank order
I'm doing a study where people place a deck of cards in a certain
order. It's sufficient to assume that their colors & each has a
number (it's actually about attributes of hobbies). I'd like to look
for patterns in how they've arranged the deck. For each subject I
have a list like 3,5,2,4,1, indicating that (s)he chose 3 first, then
5, then 2. . . .

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
This was the secret sauce! I first modified my BASH script to stuff the output of the 'set' command into a variable, then passed that variable in to my email command. Then I triggered an event and saw what variables were there in the body of the message.
Voila!
$UPSNAME and $NOTIFYTYPE were there and available. I modified the script to pump THOSE into the mail command, and the problem

Help - Firewall/Router Configuration
Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help me with a project I am doing at work. I warn
you in advance that this will be a long post, but I wanted to provide as
much information as I could to explain what was going on. Any help would be
very much appreciated and welcomed as my boss would like to see this up and
running this week. I have been scouring various

IPs in smbstatus
Louis,
Please find the o/p below. Have a question, I read somewhere that using
hostname lookups = yes in smb.conf helps with this. Is that correct?
We followed the samba wiki to setup the DNS.

DNS Domain: addom.com
FQDN: winad01.addom.com

Booting with PXE on Intel Pro GT
Hello all,
I must admit that I am new to the Linux/PXE world, and so, am still learning a lot. I am currently in the 2nd semester of a senior project at Weber State University in Utah, trying like mad to get a diskless Beowulf Cluster up and running. I was given a grant to purchase 4 nodes running this equipment:
Pentium D dual core Processor
MSI 965 Motherboard
Intel Pro/1000 GT PCI adapter
