various patches from Mandrakelinux package
I was looking at the libvorbis 1.0 SRPM of Mandrakelinux, and it contained
some patches which are not included in vorbis 1.1 svn. I'm attaching these
patches here, because it could maybe be interesting to include these
upstream.
(libvorbis-1.1-aliasing.patch is actually a rediffed patch of Mandrakesoft's
one for 1.0 against 1.1 svn).
The author of these patches is Gwenole Beachesne,

Need some explanation on Samba/NFS locks handle
Hi there,
We are thinking about sharing same files:
- OS2/Win clients with Samba
- Linux clients with NFS.
So, the same files would be shared by 2 different protocols.
Looking at the open.c samba code, there seems to be no check / no error
(sharing violation) returned to the smb client when the file is already
locked by an NFS client.
- So, even if a file is opened and locked by an NFS client,

Wine and NetBEUI
Hello,
A client of mine has this ancient software called VideoPrinter (working on Win98) and an ancient hardware that connects to the PC through both LAN cable and serial (COM) cable. I decided to give this software a try with wine 0.9.60 running on Slackware 12, kernel 2.6.23.4. The software installs without problems and after adding the appropriate registry keys the COM is recognized. But the

Hello,
I have problems connecting notebooks over wireless LAN to Samba 2.2.3a. I
don't know, wether this is a problem about wireless LAN or a problem about
subnetting (or an other reason). I use Windows 2000 at the notebook (first
without service packs, then with service pack 2, but it
don't solve the problems).
Samba server is in net 192.168.20.0 and the notebooks are in net

Bluetooth, palm, ppp and shorewall
Hi Folks!
I''m new to shorewall (in the process of switching from Bastille), and I
have a question as to how to address using Bluetooth enabled Palms with
a BT dongle on a linux box protected by shorewall.
Basically I followed the directions located at
http://www.metacon.ca/bcs/view.php?page=bluetooth
to get things working strictly with iptables, specifically:

[LLVMdev] issue with profiling in LLVM 3.1
Hi,
I am using the profiling feature of LLVM 3.1. Mostly, it works well, but
seems to be wrong in a few cases. For example, I have found that the
number of times a function executed is reported as less than the number
of times that the basic block calling this function executed (the
difference was about 25x!). I am copying out the exact functions below.
The relevant parts are in bold font:

I've got an rsync command...
rsync -av --stats --progress --partial --delete-after --bwlimit=2000

This works just fine when runfrom the command line (as user 'mwatts').
I've put it in the 'mwatts' users' crontab:

No Graphics Window, Mandrake 10.1
Dear all,
I installed Mandrakelinux 10.1 (community) on my notebook. Before, I
used Mandrakelinux 9.1 (and later 10.0 as an update).
Now I wanted to compile, as before, R.
In the beginning, nothing worked but it seemed to be the problem of GCC
3.4.1 which was shipped with my distribution. After downloading and
compiling GCC 3.4.3 everything went smoothly during the compilation of
R.
The problem

What to do for ACL support?
Hi!
I'm trying to setup samba 2.2.4 on MandrakeLinux 8.2. The server should
act as a file storage for about 25 Windows 2000 clients.
Setting up a "basic" server which just serves the files is easy.
However, I'd also like to support NT ACLs on the Samba server. Well,
what do I have to do, to get it to work?
I'm using the Mandrake RPM for 2.2.4, which has ACL support

Configuring the system to use LDAP
Hi.
I'm trying to setup an OpenLDAP server on MandrakeLinux 8.2 for use with
Samba. To accomplish this, I'm using the idealx Samba LDAP howto.
It says to use "authconfig" to setup the system to use pam_ldap,
nss_ldap and nscd. I don't have Red Hat and thus don't have authconfig.
Translated to config files, what does authconfig do?
Thanks,
Alexander Skwar

logon.bat and home dir
I recently set up a samba PDC 2.2.8 for testing purposes only.
Everything runs well enough now.
There is one thing I can't seem to get to work. I made a logon.bat logon
script for sharing a share called 'databank' on T: and it works
correctly, but trying to get the windows mount the home folder too
results in no mounting. That is: no databank and no home folder (on T:
and Y:).
