Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3
There have been several issues fixes since the 3.0.2 release of Samba. One of the most important issues is a problem with password changing after applying the patch described in the Microsoft KB828741 article to Windows clients. I want to run Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3. The version provided by RedHat is samba-3.0.2-6.3E. I can't find any other RPMs or SRPMs for RHEL3. Any help you can provide

RHEL 3 and OCFS 1.0.9-12 / 1.0.11-1
Is the following statement still valid for either OCFS 1.0.9-12 or OCFS 1.0.11-1? The following is from one of the questions put forward by Derek Suzuki on Ocfs-users "A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHEL3" > Next, I saw a Metalink thread which suggests that async I/O is not > supported on OCFS with RHAS 2.1. It doesn't say anything about RHEL3. > We've

RHE L3 -- OCFS 1.0.9-12 and 1.0.12
Running database in ASYNC mode in RHEL 3 has a potential risk of redo logs failure due to some short io's. A note from http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs/dist/files/RedHat/RHEL3/i386/README.txt says that the above mentioned problem is fixed in OCFS 1.0.9-12 "RELEASE 1.0.9-12 Fixes a potential corruption with large, aligned, direct I/Os, for example Oracle redo logs or direct path SQL

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHE L3
Sort of a followup... We've been running OCFS in sync mode for a little over a month now, and it has worked reasonably well. Performance is still a bit spotty, but we're told that the next kernel update for RHEL3 should improve the situation. We might eventually move to Polyserve's cluster filesystem for its multipathing capability and potentially better performance, but at least we

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHEL3
Oracle appears to have Wim chained in the basement, forced to answer mailing list questions at all hours. I do appreciate it. Our cluster has been stable since we installed RAC, but a few minor issues have me concerned. First, our storage array seems to maintain continuous low-level activity even when the database is shut down. The CPUs spend a modest amount of time in iowait state while this

OCFS install trouble w/ new kernel - unresolved symbols
I successfully have OCFS running in a two-node RAC environment using RHAS 3 (2.4.21-4.EL) using Qlogic 2310 cards. IO performance, however, was terrible with the combination of OCFS and the Qlogic cards. After extensive testing, OCFS did fine on its own, as did the fibre cards. Put the two together, and everything literally ran twice as slow. Support at Qlogic pointed me to

pam_winbind.so -- required_membership argument
I have the samba-3.0.2-6.3E rpm installed on my RHEL3 machine and I would like to use the required_membership parameter to pam_winbind.so. Should this work with what I currently have installed? What do I need to do in order to make this work? Thanks in advance for your assistance, Tim Lank ***************************************************************************************************

Updates? Last samba package from RedHat? Cd images for update 3?
Dear Centos-3 Maintainers, there are several new (september) packages from redhat for RHEL3 especially https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2004-430.html (samba 3.0.6). Perhaps these new packages are not security updates, but .... I am having problems printing in current samba-3.0.4-6.3E which I believe shall be resolved with the new samba. Do you guys intend to rebuild last redhat updates, or

Is k equivalent to k:k ?
Hi, I wonder if the following (apparent) inconsistency is a bug or feature. Since scalars are simply vectors of length one I would think that a and a:a produce the same result. For example, > identical(4.01,4.01:4.01) [1] TRUE However, identical(4,4:4) [1] FALSE and > identical(4.0,4.0:4.0) [1] FALSE A closer look reveals that the colon operator produces objects

Custom DomU kernel
Hi Xen list, I had Xen 3.0.2 (from the xensource.com binary packages) running on an Ubuntu 6.06 (with a 2.6 kernel). I made an image of a Redhat Advanced Server 3 that I boot fine; my problem is that the RHAS DomU is booting on the Dom0 2.6 kernel where I would like it to boot on the 2.4 kernel shipped with RHAS3. I understand I need to build a custom 2.4 kernel patched with Xen, but how do I do

Migrate from RHAS 4 to CentOS 4.2
I have a SGI Altix 350 (ia64) that came with RHAS 4, but without any paid support. I would like to migrate the server over to CentOS. Here is what I've pieced together from some older posts by Johnny, can someone confirm this should work? I know this is somewhat covered in the FAQ, although both entries refer to FC or WBEL, which already have built-in yum support. Install the

Compile on RHAS/RHEL3?
List, both on RHAS3 update3, update 4, Samba source code 3.0.9 thru 11 gives SIGSEGVs on make check. Installing the buggers and trying to run them gives the same. *THOUGH*. The Red Hat beta 3.0.9 srpm at fr2.rpmfind.net comples and runs "like a little sun" ("net als een zonnetje", in Dutch). Anyone compiled Samba 3.0.11 on Red Hat RHAS3/RHEL3? Not "how", just
