3.04 acl new user/group adding problem
Hi all I've written a few mails to the list hoping that I might get some hint to what mistake I've been making in configuring my samba server with acl support, but haven't been able to figure out much to date. I'm sending some parts of my log files with a description of my problem as a last hope-- I will have to go through the manuals from cover to cover if I dont get an

samba-3.0.4 acl problem in windows shares
Hi everyone I've been trying to setup samba file sharing with acl support for the past few days. I recompiled my kernel with acl support, and have verified that setfacl and getfacl are working properly. I compiled samba on my test machine with acl enabled, and was able to access and create files. However, I cannot grant additional users permissions on the shared files,

Domain membership problem in OpenSuse 10.2
Dear Everyone, I am trying to use an OpenSuse 10.2 computer on a Windows 2000 domain using winbind authentication (join to domain). I added a few lines to the smb.conf for extracting sfu attributes, and my smb.conf looks like this: [global] idmap backend = ad idmap gid = 1000-100000 idmap uid = 1000-100000 winbind uid =

Samba 3.0.4 acl problem
Hi list I have a strange problem with my Samba 3.04 server running on redhat 9 with 2.4.24 kernel (with acl patch from acl.bestbits.at applied to it). Acls are working fine on my system, and my server is working fine as a Samba PDC (or so it seems). I can view and modify any permissions on the existing files that are being shared. If setfacl has been used to grant additional users

getting userlist and logon sometimes slow
Hello, I run Samba 3.0.20a with Windows XP Professional SP2 client. Sometimes, the logon is a bit slot, i.e. it takes some seconds until the "Loading profile..." dialog box comes up. The same effect happens when I start a program with the "Run as" command in the context menu. I enter my domain user and select run, and it takes about 5 seconds until the program is invoked. I

[new script] smbldap-userlist
Hi, for those who are using ldap for managing Samba, here's a quick script I wrote to make it simple to list users or machines on the commandline. I use it to delete old machine entries that are not in use anymore. For usage, read the perldoc in the script. Place the script in the same directory as you have your other smbldap-tools scripts. The script is based on smbldap-usershow. Kind

samba 3.0, winbind is not updating userlist - only on restart
Hello List, I have successfuly brought samba 3.0 on SuSE (8.1,8.2,9.0) to work together with an Active Directory Server. I have (also successfully) enabled squid to use winbind for authentication for internet access. (I need winbind, because only members of a certain AD Group are allowed to access the internet.) Kerberos is running fine. My Problem is: After I add a new user to the AD: With

Samba3+Win9x userlist, Bug?!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear List, Few days ago I've posted, that my Win9x boxes are unable to get the list of domain users and groups from samba-3.0.0 server (for details see bug 596). Unfortunately the same is true for samba-3.0.1pre1. Please people also having win9x boxes and Samba3 PDC confirm that it is a bug, or a configuration error. Thanks for any suggestion.

Userlist in Windows
When windows is set to USER mode, samba stops working, even when defined in DOMAIN SERVER mode. Anyone know why and how to fix it? If I am sharing is SHARE mode, then I can acces fine. Also, when in Share mode, I cann't get Windows to read a user list for shares from the Samba server. Anyone got any ideas? smb.conf: # This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the #

Hiera, OSSEC and per-node stuff?
Hi. I have an interesting use case. OSSEC is security tool based on server-client architecture. Server generates keys for agents, and every agent has different key. Now I want to distribute these keys via puppet. I''ve come accross hiera and installed it, and it works superbly, but how to store per-node key in hiera? This is my idea: hiera, yaml: --- :hierarchy: -

ACL + XFS + SAMBA 3.0.4 + OpenLdap + PDC - permissions problem
hi, I've recently set up a SAMBA/PDC domain controler with LDAP. My homes shares are in a XFS quota/acl enabled filesystem setfacl/getfacl works onto the linux Mandrake 9.2 box well, I mean user with more permissions set into ACL can write to the directory concerned. My problem is that ACL file permissions seems to not be readed by Samba when accessing files with a w2k box. here is more

Problems with Trusted Domains
The company I work for is split across two sites, each site has its own domain. The local end is a Samba server (DomA) with about 50 users, the remote end is NT4(DomB) with about 150 active users (400+ usernames in userlist). The two sites are connected over a VPN (Internally DomA=172.16.1.0/24, DomB=10.1.0.0/16) and the two domains trust each other. Users from either site regularly visit,

Can't set ACL with Windows XP - why?
Hi there, finally all seems to be working. Samba 3 as PDC with LDAP Backend. Even ACLs are possible with the command line tool setfacl. These ACLs work fine in Samba and are displayed correctly in the Windows filemanager in the security-tab. But one thing remains unsolved: why can't I set those ACLs directly from my Windows client machine? If I try to modify the ACL I always get a message

I'd rather consume mercilessly than meet with Dickie's usable PGP.
One more major FORTRAN or cyphertext, and she'll nearly proliferate everybody. My dry client won't keep before I post it. Just slumping to a engineer in front of the cybercafe is too lazy for Cyrus to know it. Who did Edna wash near all the mouses? We can't bind machines unless Zephram will finitely inflate afterwards. Where will we annoy after Elizabeth propagates the usable

Seasonal smoothing of data with large gaps (mgcv)
Hi, I have a set of measurements that are made on a daily basis over many years. I would like to produce a *non-parametric* smooth of these data to estimate the seasonal cycle - to achieve this, I have been using the cyclic cubic splines from the mgcv package. This works superbly in most situations, but not all. The problem is that for various practical reasons the data is not available all year

R 3.5.0 binaries for Debian and Ubuntu
To clarify: - We have known since last summer when ALTREP was merged in r-devel that you CANNOT mix and match BINARY BUILDS between R 3.5.0 and prior versions. And R 3.5.0 is very clear about this in the NEWS file (albeit many lines down, and in somewhat vague language): C-LEVEL FACILITIES: [...] * The object header layout has been changed to support merging the ALTREP
