Hi People,
Trying to be as informative as possible: I'm trying to add printers

Looping auth problem
Hello,
We have had an unusual problem start this week. I observed smbd process
using lots of CPU time for an extended period of time. Upon looking at
the log for that machine with debug=2, I discovered that a client PC was
looking for information on a particular user on our network over and
over. That user is a valid user on our network. Killing the effected
smbd process did not work; another

a better smbstatus for monitoring samba ?
Hello,
does anyone know if there is a tool in existence that can monitor samba shares like smbstatus
but is much more advanced (and runs in console) , I mean a tool that has menues, some search
options, and things sorted out nice. A Samba realtime monitor would be the best thing with lots
of details and lots of options.
I tried Swat, but that aint really a solution to watch who is connected

WINS server looses election irregular in a heterogeneous network
Dear Samba-Users,
I have to administer a Samba WINS Server in a heterogenous network. It's a
student hostel with about 200 mixed (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X) computers. We
have a DHCP, which delivers the WINS-Server address to the clients. I don't
have access to the clients.
The problem is, that the WINS-Server (Samba 3.0.27) looses the
Master-Browser election irregulary. I can't

hmmm, I thought := assigned a key just like +=, except := locked it so
it could not be changed later. Am I misunderstanding the man page for udev?
Thanks,

udev on CEntOS7 - can't get a match, looking for tips...
The mtx binary requires my tape library to be assigned a sg# driver, but
the kernel periodically renumbers the sg devices. Normally, we would
write a udev rule to manually assign a persistent name, but it looks
like things have changed as I can't seem to get a match on CEntOS7. I'd
appreciate any feedback or pointers to help me get my rule working. My
two attempts are below.

Q: Share Definitions, how to make a 'truely public' area
Greetings,
I am trying to set up a "Public" share that visitors who do not
have accounts in our system have ro access to, while staff members
(who do have accounts) have rw access.
Our department has visitors who plug laptops into our network who
will only be there once, and want to copy some of our software. However,
with the following share definition, staff have rw access, but

Nasty Fail2Ban update for Centos 7
Hi all...
Recently a new Fail2Ban was available among some other updates for my
Centos 7 system, and I just updated all.
It seems that was a very BAD idea.
Just noticed that Fail2Ban have generated a 6MB error log because
of the update, and FirewallD a 1MB log of errors !
(not sure if any of those were really working after this)
ok, I'll just run yum downgrade fail2ban I thought.

[CSI] smb.conf share definition "force group =" option
Greetings,
I am using samba-3.0.1pre3-1, and have noticed that the "force
group" and "force user" option no longer seems to work. In spite of the
option being set, the files copied are set to the current users
user and primary group. Am I missing something with regards to how this
is supposed to work or is this a bug?

i'm trying to use the ssh command's -f option with OpenSSH v2.1.1p4 on

ldiskfs-ext4 interoperability question
Our current Lustre servers run the version 1.8.1.1 with the regular ldiskfs.
We are looking to expand our Lustre file system with new servers/storage and upgrade to all the lustre servers to 1.8.4 as well at the same time. We
would like to make use of the ldiskfs-ext4 on the new servers to use larger OSTs.
I just want to confirm the following facts:
1. Is is possible to run different versions
