NMBD shutting down problem
Hi,
I use a samba 3.0.2a server on a Linux Mandrake 10.0.
This morning, I found the nmb daemon shut down
with the following message in the nmbd log file :
[2004/07/03 20:39:53, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:reload_interfaces(263)
reload_interfaces: No subnets to listen to. Shutting down...
Over the web, I found many questions about this problem but no real answer.
Any idea or precision about this. It is a

nmbd dies every day
Hi there, i have 2 samba servers (1 with ver 3.0.0-15 - will do an
update soon - other with 3.0.2-7.FC1) both installed on Fedora 1.B and
my problem is that for some reason one of them (3.0.0-15 to be exact)
stops every day a few hours after everybody goes home. I had the same
version on the other server and that never happened. Please any ideas
why this happens?

nmbd dead but pid file exists
I'm having a lot of problems with nmbd quitting while I'm working. 'service
smb status' shows samba running, but 'nmbd dead but pid file exists'. Log
files show lines like
nmbd/nmbd.c:reload_interfaces(229)
reload_interfaces: No subnets to listen to. Shutting down...
Googling hasn't come up with anything helpful. Has anyone any idea what is
happening and what

How about this option for nmbd?
Hi,
please imagine the following scenario:
We have 4 local samba networks consisting of multiple
samba machines and Win95 and NT machines as well. They
all talk to each other and all works well. We have one
central (samba) WINS server for all 4 nets. These
4 nets are connected together and communicate to
the outside world through a firewall.
Now I want to connect to exactly one share on the

nmbd: No subnets to listen to. Shutting down....
Morning,
I'm running the HP version (CIFS) of 2.2.8a on a HPUX server. This morning
a user complained that they could not connect to their share. What I found
in the log.nmbd is:
[2003/11/21 10:39:36, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:(256)
reload_interfaces: No subnets to listen to. Shutting down...
When I checked the log file, I found out that this has occured a few other

SOLVED : (NEW Printing FAQ Question) : After almost every reboot, Samba printing is DOA under Solaris 2.6...
Ok.. Just a little follow-up on my Solaris printing problem that I was
having!
As it turns out, I put the fully-qualified path names to the print commands
(lpr/lpq/lprm, etc) in the samba config file (smb.conf) and all of my
printing
problems have disappeared! Now, after a clean reboot of the OS (Solaris,
not PC), I can log on to Samba and directly print -- instead of it silently
failing!

ADA: DOA?
Hey, all. While ADA can still be downloaded, that's about all that I see.
No development, no recent mention, and -- perhaps worst of all -- it
appears not to work properly under 64-bit systems. So, assuming Digium's
abandoned it, are there any suggestions of alternatives? Right now, I'm
replacing a Shoretel system, and I'd *dearly* love to avoid the incredibly
fat client they

After almost every reboot, Samba printing is DOA under Solaris 2.6...
I just thought that I would put this out there and see if anyone else
sees this problem with Samba 1.9.18p4 (under Solaris 2.6).
It appears that after some reboots of Solaris, Samba printing is partly
dead. What I see in the logs are below, and what happens is that the
file to be printed is spooled to /var/spool/samba, like always, but
when the lpr command is issued it croaks. I've been

Samba 4.1 Member Server and Winbind
Hello everybody,
for a while I am running a Samba 4.1 AD server under FreeBSD (from the
FreeBSD ports). At thw moment the domain has ca. 20 Windows 7 desktops.
I wanted to add a Samba 4.1 file server as a member server, was able to
joint the domain and see AD users via "winbind -u"
but "getent password" or "id <user>" does not work.
The smb4.conf is

winbind offline logon
Hi all!
As a die hard slackware user and as a part of my learning pam process I installed debian bookworm (12.4.0) in a vm and setup a domain member server per the instructions in the wiki trying to figure out how debian does it so I can correct some issues I have with how it's done in slackware.
Everything seems to be working fine except for the winbind offline logons, what I tried was to
