Problem with ACL and Samba
Dear All I am facing a strange problem that I could not solve, so, maybe you can help me. Look at this situation: I created a new directory with those ACLs (through Samba using Windows XP) [root@server /home/smb/adm]# getfacl teste #file:teste #owner:1002 #group:1006 user::rwx group::rwx group:suporte:rwx group:administ:rwx mask::rwx other::--- [root@server /home/smb/adm]# getfacl -d teste

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix incorrect inode acl reset
When a directory has a default ACL and a subdirectory is created under that directory, btrfs_init_acl() is called when the subdirectory''s inode is created to initialize the inode''s ACL (inherited from the parent directory) but it was clearing the ACL from the inode after setting it if posix_acl_create() returned success, instead of clearing it only if it returned an error. Default ACL inheritance question
A bit of a minor off-topic issue, but on the off-chance that someone understands how ACLs work ... I've been trying to see if using default ACLs would help with the following issue: I have a third party application that is running as a non-root user ('user-a') and creating log files with mode 0600 (read/write only to the owner) in a log directory I have another application that

Samba + OpenLDAP + ACL patch on Linux 2.4.18 problems.
Hi, all. I compiled Samba 2.2.5 (on Linux) with these optinos: --with-smbmount --with-acl-support --with-ldapsam The compilation went fine and everything seems to be working except for the ACL part. I've applied the ACL patch for Linux 2.4.18 (from acl.bestbits.at) and installed all the tools to go with it. That part works: root@madrid# getfacl /tmp getfacl:

Folder Redirection broken if access is from ACL only
I have an issue with W2K/XP using Folder Redirection to a Samba homes share (or any share for that matter). This is only a problem when access for a user is via an ACE (ACL) and not the traditional file system permissions. So for example (user is cath in this example): [root@gandalf users]# ll -d cath drwxrwx---+ 5 root root 4096 Apr 15 20:40 cath [root@gandalf users]# getfacl cath # file: cath

Retaining Permissions on a share
Hi all, Sorry to repost about this same issue once again, but I'm really at a complete loss as to how to solve the problem with ownership being changed after I've set it. I've set ownership as follows... ( set this by chmod -R 0770 HR, as well as chgroup -R HR-Group, I then signed into a Windows PC that was part of the domain, went to computer management as per the WIKI and chose

Cannot change directory permissions
Hi Rowland, sorry, I hit the wrong reply button in the last answer. So there is no other way than to use Windows ACLs? I was told with our old systems (Samba 3 in non-domain mode) the behaviour I want to achieve was possible when only using ugo. Greetings, Felix -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Im Auftrag von Rowland Penny Gesendet:

Samba 3 to 4 AD migration - extensive permissions problems
Finally biting the bullet and upgrading home machines to Windows 7 but experiencing many problems. Server is a Debian Lenny, old Samba 3.2.5, new Samba 4.1.4 built from source. My setup has been doing roaming profiles for XP since 2003 or so with almost no changes. State of Gluster 3.4 alpha 3 NFS ACL support
Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction here - just built some new bricks running gluster 3.4 alpha 3 (from http://download.gluster.org) with the objective of testing them to replace some existing 3.2 systems in production. The main thing I was after was NFS ACL support, however on getting everything setup, I still don't seem to be able to see POSIX extended ACLs on the

[acl] setting user/group permissions from windows
Hello, I've setup a samba PDC (3.0.31) and I am using Windows Vista clients. Logging on works fine using roaming profiles and folder redirections. I am also able to write to shares, etc. Now I am trying to get the advanced permissions on files to work. So on my share: [share] comment = Shared directories path = /samba/share read only = No guest ok = Yes With the following user rights

Acls support in rsync
Hi, I already wrote about this subject last month but didn't get attention... I've found a way to transfert acls with a script and applying them. This process has already been described in this mailing list (http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/rsync/2000-March/001992.html) but there's a way to do it in a more efficient way using some getfacl options. You can dump acls of a full

Can't set ACL with Windows XP - why?
Hi there, finally all seems to be working. Samba 3 as PDC with LDAP Backend. Even ACLs are possible with the command line tool setfacl. These ACLs work fine in Samba and are displayed correctly in the Windows filemanager in the security-tab. But one thing remains unsolved: why can't I set those ACLs directly from my Windows client machine? If I try to modify the ACL I always get a message
