rsync stoped syncing
Hi, I want to keep the home-Directorys of 2 machines in sync. Therefor I start rsync every hour with cron. In the Beginning all worked fine, but now ... I searched, but can't see the problem. The home-directorys on the "master" change very often, but the changes are no longer replicated to the "slave". Both run Linux and rsync 2.5.5. The master calls (the long line may be

accessing shares
My experience is very limited on Unix and Samba. Please forgive me if the answer is right in front of me. Problems accessing shares on my Samba 3.0.1pre1 running on Gentoo1.4 I'm stuck big time! I've been trying to figure out why I cannot access shares. The only share I can currently read & write to is: [OpenShare] comment = Temporary file space path = /tmp

Host NTFS Shares on Samba Server?
Running Samba 2.2.8a I have a secondary hard drive (100GB) full of desktop images that I would like to share. The drive is installed in my Samba server and currently setup in fstab as: /dev/hda2 /mnt/myntfs ntfs defaults 0 0 This allows root access read permissions. Can I setup my Samba server to allow domain admins to access the data on this secondary drive? Please advise, Tim Jordan

stack overflow
Hello, I am trying to do an ANOVA on a microarray data set consisting of 22690 elements. The ANOVA is fine, but when I try to put the data in a frame in order to exporting it, I get a stack overflow. I have found documentation on dynamic memory in R, but not on how to increase the stack size. The code I'm using is below. If anyone has any suggestions for a workaround here, I'd

Samba 4 AD SmartCard Authentication Problem
Confusing. Github says that is open. Ok. My mistake. The question remains why the Windows clients allow login for an expired certificate despite a correctly loaded CRL. What is the purpose of specifying the CRL in smb.conf? It seems to me that the smartcard login is not really reliable. Then my users still have to log in with password. For now, as long as 4.19 is not yet released. Hans

samba 3 mandrake rpms...where is net tool?
I installed the RPMS from samba web site for Mandrake 9.1. Configuration is weird as things are labeled smbd3 or winbind3... Testparm runs against /etc/samba/smb.conf yet swat configures the smb.conf in a different location...hmm.... But really my problem is joining the AD domain as a member server. I can't locate the net tool. How is this done? How does testparm know to test against

ndiswrapper and 4K stacks problem (system freezes)
Hi Folks, I'm trying tio install WLAN - USB - Stick Netgear WG111v3. ndiswrapper -i wg111v3 works. I can see ndiswrapper -l wg111v3: driver installed device (0846:4260) present But after modprobe ndiswrapper the system freezes. Troublshooting on ndiswrapper-sites says: It's a problem of "kernel is using 4K stacks (CONFIG_4KSTACKS)" Solution: recompile the kernel.

Dear All, I have a working Samba AD for my company (company.intranet) under Debian/GNU. Now I'm requested to create a domain for another company. "conversion error" and NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE - more info
Hi again, as I am finally back working on the problem, I add the smb.conf in the hope somebody can see what I am doing wrong. Samba Version is 3.0.14a from Debian Sarge. Attached is my smb.conf - there may be some unnecessary things in it meanwhile due to too much trying, but anyways. Meanwhile there are some more clients that have problems with password authentication. One thing I noticed is
