Printing errors
Today is our first day 'live' with Samba! We're having problems with printing. Samba is running on a SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 box, and the printers are connected via Axis and HP JetDirect print servers. The Clients are Win XP Pro. When we configured the printers on the clients at the weekend, they seemed to work fine - the printer drivers installed, and we were able to print the

Unable to open printcap file lpstat
Hi I?ve been carrying out some upgrades to our SCO Unixware 7 server. I?ve updated from 7.1.3 to 7.1.4, and then installed maintenance pack2. On the Samba side, this means that Samba has been upgraded from 2.2.8a (with UnxWare 7.1.3) to 3.0.0 (with UnixWare 7.1.4). Everything seemed to be working fine at this point. Samba was then upgraded to 3.0.10 (with maintenance pack 2), and I

Printing banners
Hi I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a UnixWare 7.1.3 box. I'd set up the Samba printer shares, and it seemed to be working fine (only live for a couple of weeks). However, I've just added some heavy users, and the printer daemon keeps bombing out. I'd configured the printers to use lpr, but someone suggested I should use lp, so I thought I'd give this a go at the weekend.

Advanced printers shares
Hi Here the problem. I am using samba 2.0.10 on sparc Solaris 8 platform in a Nis env. Currently we have about 100 or so printers listed in printers.conf nis map, these printers cover our 5 sites which all use the same nis env. Each site has one Domain master, and a local master on any separate subnets, as not all is in the same domain. When ours users log into a samba server they are

configure.in reorder patch
Feb 12 CVS (sort of, see warning below) I've had to change around some of the code in configure.in to get some platforms to compile with the --with-tcp-wrappers option. Basicly I have set it up to check headers check system libraries check for optional packages check functions I have also tried to clean up the library order as it is important on some platforms. This patch works on Solaris

tdb lock failures
We've just gone live with a file & print server, and are having major problems with Samba. When used out of hours, with all PCs switched on and connected to the domain, everything works fine. However, during the day, we have problems where users can't print to any samba-hosted printer, Access database applications (where the database is held on the server) won't work, or work

Which file to use?
To Whom It May Concern: We see three files, openssh-3.8pq.tar.ga, openssh-3.8p1.tar.gz.sig, and openssh-3.8p1-vs-openbsd.diff.gz Do we need one of these or a different file to load? Currently, we're running SCO UnixWare 7.1.1, and could upgrade to 7.1.3. Thanks for your help. -Tom Phan

SmbClient Kills NT 4 in conjunction w/ Amanda (Revisited)
Ok.. I've tried tweaking several settings on Samba (1.9.18p4) in order to try to keep it from killing several machines that get backed up weekly via Amanda (using smbclient). What always appears to happen is that for one reason or another, Samba is booking along copying files and then all of a sudden NT stops communication and smbclient ends up hanging forever (regardless of the keepalive

Samba and Foxpro for Unix
Hi ! I have an unique situation. An SCO Unixware 7.1.3 with Samba 2.2.7a (yes, i know; it sucks !) On the machine, is running MS Foxpro 2.6 for UNIX (it's running pretty well for several years) but due to new demands (like Crystal Reports, Visual view; etc) the directories with DBF files were shared using Samba. At the beginning, when everything was only about reading, there were no

Adding Windows server to Samba domain
We?ve been running Samba 2.2.8 on a couple of UnixWare 7.1.3 boxes for a couple of years. One is acting as a PDC, and supplies things like login scripts and print queues etc. The workstations are all running Windows XP Pro, and login to the domain. However, we now have a requirement to install a new application that runs on Microsoft SQL server. This will require a new additional server

Availablity of OpenSSH on SCO Unixware 7.1.2
I have been asked to investigate the use of OpenSSH on some of our systems. These systems are running SCO OpenUnix ( Unixware 7.1.2). Are you aware of any issues that may prevent me from using OpenSSH on this version of SCO. Print queue problem under solaris 2.6
Hi, I saw your message on the SAMBA web site and thought you might have heard of this problem and a possible solution. I'm running Samba 1.9.17p5 on a SUN Ultra-1 and it appears that the lprm command is being completely ignored by the system, which seems to be inserting an lpstat -o command instead. I did a level 5 debug and have been looking over the C code pretty closely but can't see

proposal: stats::as.matrix.ftable method
Following some discussion on R-help, I'd like to propose that an as.matrix method be added to those available for ftable objects. The reason for this is that there are a variety of situations where one needs to flatten a 3+ way table, but then use that for analysis as a matrix, not just for pretty-printing. There is an as.table method to turn the result back to a table, but an as.matrix

Patch for UnixWare 7
Hi, I have ported OpenSSH-4.0p1 to UnixWare 7.1.4. patches for UnixWare v2.x pty (misc.c,configure.in)
I have attached two patches to the current source code. The first addresses the pty problems with UnixWare 2.x with connecting with SSH2. It sets the sigaction to SA_RESTART. This fixes UnixWare v2.x, but haven't heard any feedback as to effects on other OS'. The first patch is against misc.c. The second patch adds a section "*-*-sysv4.2uw2*" to configure to set the

Samba 3 use of /etc/passwd /etc/shadow
We've been running Samba2.2.x and relying on the underlying Solaris user authentication (/etc/passwd /etc/shadow). For historical reasons, we've allowed plaintext passwords. Now as we've upgraded to Samba 3.0.3. we would like to continue this method of authentication (at least until we can implement ldap). The docs are sketchy at best (you can use plaintext authentication, etc.), but

Samba 1.9.18 on Unixware 2.1.2, Makefile problem (& solution, sorta)
Hello Samba gurus: I apologize if I'm not following some established protocol, I'm pretty new to samba and to this list. I just tried compiling samba 1.9.18 on UnixWare 2.1.2 and ran into a problem with UnixWare's /usr/ccs/bin/cc: it doesn't deal with the "-o" option in combination with the "-c" option well at all. It either ignores the "-o" or

latex tables for 3+ dimensional tables/arrays
I'm looking for an R method to produce latex versions of tables for table/array objects of 3 or more dimensions, which, of necessity is flattened to a 2D display, for example with ftable(), or vcd::structable, as shown below. I'd be happy to settle for a flexible solution for the 3D case. > UCB <- aperm(UCBAdmissions, c(2, 1, 3)) > ftable(UCB) Dept A B
