Winbind not looking in correct Win2k3 SBS User container
Hi, We've recently upgraded a network from Win2k to 2k3 SBS. We were using samba with security = domain (which I believe stopped working - I was on vacation at the time the upgrade was done) and are now using security = ads. We're using samba-3.0.23b-0.1.35 on SuSE Enterprise Linux Server 9 SP3 x86_64 The samba machine has been sucessfully joined to the domain with: kinit

Hi all, I've been battling this for weeks. I have one samba server joined to our windows 2k3 domain that is happily using Active Directory for authenication via Winbind and kerberos. Ok great, but now I want to have two Samba boxs on the domain with consistant uid/rid mapping between. virtualizing Windows in Cetnos
Here is what i am looking to do. i have a server SBS 2k3 machine. I want to load linux on it then virtualize the SBS server inside the linux installation. I would then be able to compress backup just the sbs virtual file instead of screwing with the backup programs inside of windows(even symantec's and yosemitie's stuff leaves much to be desired). What are my options both free and

Poor network performance on Win2k3 DomU
Hi everyone. I´m having this problem with Red Hat 5.4 running on a HP ProLiant BL460c G6. I have two windows 2k3 x64, but network performance is extremely bad without PV drivers, i mean, it takes a lot of time to access any location and if the path has many folders it can´t conect. Redhat provides some PV dirvers. I´ve installed them, but with no improvements. I tested another DomU, with the

Very weird access problems from win2k3 to samba 3.x
I've got a samba 3.0.5 (I can't get 3.0.6 or 3.0.7 to compile - I'll get to that later) server running and it *appears* to be working just fine. >From the 2k3 system in question, if I open an explorer window I can access the server via UNC just fine, no errors or anything on the Windows side. On the Samba side though, once in a while I get this in the samba.log file (and I'm

How can I give access to the Local System user on the Windows box without making the share writeable to any other user or system? How does the speed of SQL compare to the speed of LDAP? If the speeds are comparable, why bother with LDAP, which doesn't handle writes very well? Migrate Win2k3 file server to samba fileserver
Hi, this is my first posting to the samba mailing list. So please excuse me, if I am posting to the wrong list. To my problem: we have a win2003 sbs server in our company which is responsible for users, files and some other stuff. Now for several reasons I'd very much like to migrate the file server part to linux/samba. My biggest issue is, that we have a quite complex permission structure.

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hi, I want to migrate a Windows Small Business Server 2011 domain controller to Samba 4. The SBS2011 has about 40 users and 100 client computers. Also about 50 GPOs are in use. Furthermore there is Exchange running on the SBS and it has to stay there for the next couple of month (it will be replaced by a new mail system later). So far I think I can either try to migrate or start from

Rsync deletion issue on failure
I didn't see this in the man page or after a cursory Google search. I'm rsync-ing a file from computer A to computer B and the file does not exist yet on computer B. My problem is that on a shoddy Internet connection, if rsync fails due to a connection error, the dot file it creates on computer B is deleted and I have to start the rsync all over from the beginning. Is there a way to

Windows 2008 SBS suddenly disappearing on Xen 4.0.0
Hi all, when running Windows 2008 SBS on Xen 4.0.0, it disappears after some time (longest time I had it running was 20 minutes). In /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-win1.log I find: xc_map_foreign_batch: mmap failed: Cannot allocate memory xc_map_foreign_bulk error 12 Anyone any idea how to troubleshoot this? The Hypervisor has 16 GB of RAM, currently 2 GB are allocated to Dom0. This specific DomU has 8

SMB Signature problem against WIN2K3 server using samba3.0.0 release( Samba Developers Response requested)
There are many discussions about this problem, but none of the developers of samba stepped in and gave any good explanation. Is this solved in Samba3.0.0 official release? (In what's new section of 3.0.0rc4, the 14th point is win2k3 security settings related matter. Is this the fix for SMB signature?) In one of the discussions there is a mention of disabling security option of Digitally
