Problems with qemu-system-arm and isa-serial
Hi,
I'm trying to use libvirt for an armel virtual machine hosted
into an x86_64 box.
I know the command line to start qemu-system-arm directly, but I
cannot figure a proper .xml configuration file to let libvirt do
this job.
The main problem is that I want a serial console attached via
telnet, this is the Qemu incantation:
-serial telnet::4000,server,nowait,nodelay

I'm on a Debian 7.4 Wheezy (Stable):
libvirt: 0.9.12.3-1
qemu: 1.1.2+dfsg-6a
It seems that Debian has more recent versions, via the backports
repository. I will test them shortly.

TKEY is unacceptible [SEC=UNOFFICIAL]

Hi,
I have a SAMBA4 box (CentOS 6.5, SAMBA 4.1.7) that joined a 2003 domain and I have transferred (not seized) all FSMO roles to the samba box. I demoted the 2003 DC (had to forceremoval). The Samba box now is the sole DC and DNS server on the network.
I followed the instructions in https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2014-February/097703.html for repairing the domain

tkey-gssapi-credential and bind (Samba4)
So I am in step 10 of the samba4 howto
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO#Step_10_Configure_kerberos_DNS_dynamic_updates);
my bind9 is 9.7.3 which seems to be current enough for this. In it we
are to add
tkey-gssapi-credential "DNS/samdom.example.com";
tkey-domain "SAMDOM.EXAMPLE.COM";
to /etc/bind/named.conf.options. Since my test domain is
test.domain.com,

Strange samba problem with Win XP
Hello list,
I don't know what is breaking my samba box but I am really very
worried and confused !! My samba server has no problem with linux
client. "smbclient -L <samba IP> -U <samba user>" runs well. No
problem at all. But whenever I try to access the shares from Win-XP it
reports that "path not found". And after repeatedly trying the same

wins: no nmblookup on 192.168.1.255 but 192.168.1.2
Hi,
here is a client computer and a server computer (Debian Wheezy, armel,
samba Version 3.6.6, IP address: 192.168.1.2, Name: xyz).
Problem: wins doesn't answer nmblookups by the client on the broadcast
address:
client$ nmblookup -S xyz
querying xyz on 192.168.1.255
name_query failed to find name xyz
Why is that so? How to fix this?
When I specify the the server IP I do get an answer:

I am so frustrated - Samba ports not opening and no error message
Okay - I've been plugging away and it got to the point that running
smbclient was returning information about an Alfresco install that I
never used, so I went ahead and deleted everything I could find on my
machine that said "alfresco". I then removed samba using apt-get from
the machine by typing
apt-get remove --purge samba
I deleted the /etc/samba directory and re-installed

Riello Vision VST 1100 + NetMan 204 network card
I've contacted Riello and they told me that the NetMan 204 is the new
version of the Netman Plus 102 and is indeed compatible with NUT.
I don't know how to update the Hardware compatibility list page, but the
204 should be added to the compatible ones.

Error creating New Folder in samba 2.2.4
I upgraded from samba 2.2.3a to samba 2.2.4 to solve a Wins problem (samba
expires itself from the wins cache after some days).
Now I get a totally new problem: viewing a samba share from Windows98, I
right-click New, Folder (Nuovo, Cartella in Italian), then an error message
appears:
Impossibile creare un file, se il file esiste gi?.

I have had a very strange experience upon my migration to samba3 and an
Active Directory environment.
I've migrated over 12 linux boxes that were previously tied into an NT
domain without issue, there is one however that is behaving a bit bizarre.
When I try to mount a share on this box by its new hostname
\\sambabox.newdomain.com, I get a password prompt, which should not
appear.

Samba logs created with IP addresses, not names
Hi Folks,
I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on a Mandrake 10.0 box. It is a domain
member server in a 2000 domain and everything seems to authenticate
nicely. I have winbind smbd and nmbd all showing up in my processes
list and it all seems happy. The shares all work fine and my domain
users can autheticate. Yay!
I can resolve workstation's names from the linux box with "ping
