EXT3 with 2.2.20 - Is it stable enough for a production server th at is used 24X7?
Hello All,
I have a production server that is running 2.2.20. This server *has* to be
up 24X7 - what I'm wondering is:
1) Is ext3 on 2.2.20 rock stable? Or, would you recommend that I just stay
with ext2?
2) I have looked far and wide for a the ext3 patch for 2.2.20 - where can I
find it?
3) Were are the e2fsprogs that are appropriate to run with the 2.2.X kernel
series?
Thanks,

Huge fonts in font selector - no characters when printing
I'm experimenting with a Swedish accounting program (SPCS Administration 2000)
in Wine. The program seems to work fine except for printing. Only a few
formatting horizontal lines are printed, no characters at all. It's the same
result in the print preview, printing to a PDF or to a real printer (through
CUPS).
In the printing dialog there is an option to select fonts. In the font

rsync hangs/stalls on long filenames
Hi!
I'm using (the excellent) rsync utility to do backup on several large www-servers. The backup machine runs in daemon mode. However, once in a while the backup hangs/stalls eternally. Using lsof I've been able to determine that this happens only when rsync has reached some file with an unusually long path.
Details:

zpool labelclear destroys GPT data
When i use zpool labelclear, it wipes the whole disk including gpt data.
So the whole disk is empty and i need to create the gpt partitions again.
Is this supposed to work like this?
The man page suggests that it only wipes the ZFS metadata.
zpool labelclear [-f] device
Removes ZFS label information from the specified device. The
device
must not be part of an active pool

oops 2.2.19 ext3 0.0.6b prune_dcache
Hi,
i am seeing an oops (every couple of days) on a UP PII system with
SCSI disks, Kernel 2.2.19 and ext3 0.0.6b.
All oops output passed the klogd thus i cant anymore pipe it through
ksymoops - I ensured klogd got the correct System.map so the result
should be reliable.

ext3 and 2.2.19
Hi All,
Has anyone had a similar problem with ext3?
A 75 gig partition in 24x7 use for about 2 weeks - no problems.
Today I ran bonnie++ on the partition to get a feel for the performance,
with ext3 and quotas enabled.
The box started swapping like crazy on and abruptly froze at at the
'Delete files in random order' step.
There was no kernel error messages or the like. This partition

Fatal Trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode on IBM x340 after Aug25CVS
Hi,
We did an upgrade of one of our machines from an Aug 25 CVS and ever since
then one of the machines likes to reboot about once a day.
The machine is the following:
IBM x340
2x1GHZ Processors
1GB RAM
3x36GB Drives (RAID 5)
Mylex ExtreRAID 352
In the panic it mentions httpd, but I don't *think* it's apache (1.3.27)
that's causing the problem, or am I wrong? I also believe it is

[LLVMdev] LLVM instrumentation
Yeah I have already see pintool but I need this to work with ARM and Intel.
If I remember correctly, pintool does not work on ARM (or quite bad).
My goal with the instrumentation is, once I have the information (time + call), to choose (during a second compilation) if some of my passes are applicable or not.
Greetings,
Johan

[LLVMdev] LLVM instrumentation
The PGO was my first guess but I can get a lot of information.
At first, I follow the explanation at http://clang.llvm.org/docs/UsersManual.html#profiling-with-instrumentation but instead of llvm-profdata merge, I used llvm-profdata show *.profraw.
Sadly, the information I get is the total number of function, the maximum function count and the maximum internal block count.
Do you know if you

BADLOCK - samba 3.6.23 and Trust relationship
Hi,
Due to "Red Hat Vulnerability Response: BADLOCK", an automatic samba
package RHEL5 update was apply on our system.
This broke "The trust relationship between this workstation and the
primary domain failed" (error message logon client) in my environnement
production.
So, I use now 3.6.23-12.el5_11, I see they are new directive for
smb.conf and some others more restrict
