Strange Problem with Access
I would like to pose the following problem to this mailing list to see if any of you have any suggestions you may offer. I am running samba on a RedHat 7.2 Athalon box with software RAID 0 dual IDE disks on an ext3 filesystem. I have several users in a large community of users that are always hitting the samba server. The machine has been consistently reliable with one exception. There is

Dangling MS Access DB Lock Files *.ldb
I have an intermittent problem with dangling MS Access DB lock files. In a productive environment with N batch queus (each on a separate Windows XP Professional) a scheduler PC dispatches the work load to a free queue by means of modifying a simple MS Access DB file called "PRIM.mdb", which resides on a Samba 3.0.20 share. Each free queue PC polls the same MS Access DB file every 60

MS Access and RAID
Hi, We have been having a few problems with a M$ Access DB held on a Samba server Samba version: samba-2.2.4-2N1 We have rebuilt a new server, and transferred the database over to the new box, along with word/excel docs etc. Everything is working fine, except the access database, which is running very very slowly (can be over a minute to open a record). Details are a little sketchy, but it

Samba and MS Access (new effect)
Hi, now I'm confused. I told about the locking problem with Samba and MS Access .mdb files. When I use Samba 2.0.7-49 with SuSE Linux 7.0 and kernel 2.2.16 I have to set the option "fake oplocks=yes" on the share to get access to the .mdb files. Using Samba 2.0.7-105 on SuSE Linux 7.1 with kernel 2.4.0 it works without the fake oplocks option. I'm using the same smb.conf on both

Strange MS-Access Problems with Samba 2.2.1a
Hello, something strange happens sometimes with a MS access Database when trying to open it on a samba share. The database is destroyed and I think the problem is Samba cause in the database file you can find some log entries from samba. I got some tips from a german ng but I think it is better to publish it here cause might be a bug in samba 2.2.1a. I use samba 2.2.1a on Suse 7.3 and MS Office

msaccess db corruption
Ok, I've tried all the "common" fixes, such as turning oplocks off on the share. Twice a day the database has to be repaired. running samba-3.0.7-2.FC2 Here's the pertinent section: comment = Aeries path = /home/aeries valid users = @aeries read only = No create mask = 0770 directory mask = 0770 inherit permissions = Yes

Serving MS Access Databases, with ACL
Hi All. Greetings from South Africa. I have a Samba LDAP server (v 3.022) running on Ubuntu 6.10 Its serving about 200 users, with profiles, and domain logons. I want to start server MS Access Databases on it, with the best speed performance as possible. At the moment, the back ends for these databases, are about 200+ MB, and will grow over the next few years. Basically, the share should

ACCESS mdb on Samba
hello there. I posted a message like this last week. I still got no answer though. Am I alone in this samba community? Anyways, I have samba working on my openlinux 2.3. I had it up and running (smbd /nmbd). I successfully mapped the shared resource from a win95 box. I started my vb program that gets data from an MS Access mdb file. The program did went on adding new records, deleting and

FW: oplock break on excel files using samba 2.2.4
I'm having the same kind of problem too. Links to other excel workbooks are really breaking badly. One of them so bad that if I highlight the file through a windows explorer view; it kills the window immediately. I'm using RH 7.2 and Samba 2.2.4 -1 Please let me know if someone has some suggestions .... So far I've tried: veto oplock files = /*.mdb/*.MDB/*.ldb/*.LDB/*.xls/*.XLS

Cannot share MSAccess DB after upgrade 3.0.5 to 3.0.8
This is really strange. The samba server in question is a domain member server on a Windows NT 4.0 Domain network. It runs Gentoo 2004.3 with a 2.4.24 kernel. The Gentoo server was upgraded from Samba 3.0.5 to 3.0.8 last night. After the upgrade, the server had to be re-joined to the domain. After that, everything appeared to be working. This morning we found that the MSAccess database files

MS-Access Databases not share win samba-3
I have a single Linux server running Slackware 10.0 and Samba Version 3.0.10. I have one share that has several MS Access tables on it. One user can operate very well, however when a second user tries to access the same database tables, the mdb files locked. It's usually a permission denied, or a "can't lock" type of error.
