Win2k clients and PDC
Hi,
We have Samba 2.2.6(+2.2.7 security patch) installed on solaris.
Samba is used as PDC for WinNT and Win2K clients. The WinNT machines have
no problems geting into the domain as machine trust accounts exist in
/etc/passwd and smbpasswd file. However, Win2k clients are not able to
join the domain. I did go through the documentation, and hence created
root account in 'smbpasswd'

2.2.7a securtiy 'server' auth. problems
Hi all,
sorry if this has been asked before, but as far as I could see there's no similar entry in the archive.
I'm using version 2.2.7a on a HP machine running HP-UX 11.11. The binaries have been created for PA-RISC 2.0 supporting 64Bit mode.
The SAMBA has been configured to use securty = server. Password servers has been 'defined'. For a certain user (Service account used to

another one of those "cannot authenticate against AD" posts :(
Hello,
I had a perfectly good setup with samba being a domain member, and
domain users accessing their shares, since beta1. A month and several
updates from M$ later, clients were no longer able to log on to the
samba machine. I know this must be related to the updates, since there
have been absolutely no configuration / application modifications on the
linux box, and clients who forgot to

samba domain controller + Windows 2000
I have a Linux machine running Samba 2.2.1a (dated, I know) as a domain controller for Windows clients (NT and 2000). I can add NT machines to the domain just fine; I use useradd and smbpasswd to generate the appropriate entries, and it works fine. I tried doing the same thing with a couple of 2000 (SP3) machines, and although I'm allowed to join the domain, after rebooting and trying to log

Accessing printer from outside the domain
We need to give a user in another domain access to our printer:

Samba domain with non-domain Win98
I have a samba domain. Also there are some machines which are not in
domain. I need to create share for full access for these machines.
I've tried this:
[common_share]
path = /path/to/dir
browseable = yes
writeable = yes
guest ok = yes
force user = ftp
force group = ftp
But when I'm trying to connect to this share I've been asked for
password to IPC$.
Can anybody help?

Hello all,

The user "hugo" is logged on locally or in a domain "first" with his password

The user can do a
net use M: \\samba\share

how to define share for sharing lmhosts?
Hi All,
Probably simple question: I want to make a share for sharing an lmhosts
file which gets included by the clients. This share has to be very
public and accept nullsessions (whatever that me be (no username and
password?)).
I want this because I need to generate aliases on the fly for for our
fileserver for some clients (terminalservers specifically). So I thought
that having an server

Users can't change their own password...
Hello,
I've recently put Samba into production, and while I do love it, I am having
a problem I can not figure out. It comes when a regular user tries to change
their password. I have dug through the FAQ's I could find, and also looked
through a few trouble shooting sections. Everything they suggest checks out.
The server as a whole works great. If I log in as root and change a users

Win98 not transmitting passwd to samba server
Hello
I cannot get my Windows98 machines to connect to my Samba server(2.2.4)

The Samba server looks OK. On the server machine, "smbclient -L <server> -U
user1" prompts me for a passwd, then, after authentication, displays the
shares. When I attempt to map a share from my Win machines, the samba log

Mapped username then gets mapped to "Anonymous"
Hi Everyone,
I have setup a Samba share to work on our local network with a username
map to accommodate Windows XP usernames with spaces, but it seems that
Samba maps the username correctly but then immediately changes it to an
Anonymous request. Am I missing something? Clip from log file:

Samba 2.2.5 and LDAP start_tls
Hi,
I've a problem in connecting samba 2.2.5 to LDAP with ldap ssl = start_tls.
I've already patched the file pdb_ldap.c and configure.in and run autconf (as
described in the Samba-LDAP-PDC howto).
However, doing a rpcclient servername -U root%password -c "enumprinters" shows
this in the log:

security=domain problems
Hi all,
We are having some problems getting a solaris 9(sparc) file server
running samba 2.2.2 to authenticate aginst a windows NT 4 PDC. Let me
say first that this was all working at one time, then we had some data
corrumption on our NFS mounted /usr/local, and had to restore from tape.
Due to some issues with solaris ufsdump and ufsrestore, stuff was not
quite put back properly. We do

WinXP problems accessing Samba shares
I'm having problems accessing Samba shares from my XP Pro machine. Samba
2.2.7 is installed on two Redhat 8.0 machines and configured using SWAT. I
have user level security and encrypted passwords setup. I have a printer
shared on both servers as well as home directories and one restricted access
share. My printers are setup for guest access so all machines will always
be able to print.

Samba, NT4 and W2K trust/authentication problem.
Hi all,
Set-up:
Local NT4-RESOURCE domain which the Samba server is a member off.
One NT4-ADMIN domain with users accounts and one W2K domain
with some other user accounts. A one way trust from NT4-ADMIN
to NT4-RESOURCE and a one way trust from W2K to NT4-RESOURCE.
Samba version 2.0.7 running on Solaris 2.6.
According to the NT admins, the W2K domain is in native mode,
