Win98 policies,profiles and logon scripts
I am running Samba 2.2.3a and have my users logging into the 'samba domain'. My WinNT and WinXP users are working fine with roaming profiles and policies. My problem is my Win98 users. The logon script doesn't seem to be working, i.e. when I log onto a Win98 machine (logging into the domain), the logon script doesn't run. I have opened up the permissions to the logon script

password aging
What are my options for implementing password aging using samba as my PDC ? I can set the users Linux password to expire, but it doesn't seem to propagate to their samba passwords. I absolutely need this functionality. Is OpenLDAP the answer? Joseph Morin

RH9 to RH Enterprise: PDC migration from one operating system to another
I had to migrate to RedHat Enterprise Linux ES 3.0. Actually I had to do is a complete OS install, NOT an upgrade. What this means is that I had to reinstall Samba and configure it. I'm using Samba 3.0.4-6.3E (a Redhat rpm) with smbpasswd as password backend. My pourpose was to be seamless to the end users. Without changes at PC users. I will be using the same physical server, but in

RedHat Enterprise 3.0 RPMs
I currently have a Redhat 9 server running Samba 3.0.4. I need to move the Samba data to a different server that I installed the Redhat Enterprise 3.0, because Redhat Enterprise will not upgrade Redhat 9. The problem is that Redhat Enterprise 3.0 comes with samba-3.0.2-6.3E which I assume that this version based of 3.0.2 with the printer and security patches. The problem is I do not think I can

Moving domain from one samba box to another
I have searched for the answer but have only found others asking... I have been running Samba successfully for ten years now, with approx 50 clients hanging off a Solaris box running Samba 2.2.6. The mixed network of 95/98/2000/XP machines were logging into the Samba domain fine and roaming profiles were functional. We do not have any Windows server machines on this site. I decided to upgrade

Backup
We have a RHEL2 server that has had one of the drives in the raid array fail. I would like to do a full backup of the system before we replace the raided drive, in case the second drive decides to die during the procedure. What is the recommended way to back up a linux system? I was thinking of doing a snapshot, but the system is ext3 with no LVM. It has been suggested to hook up a usb

Hi there, (sorry for my bad english speaking) I was broadcasting my Iphones audio feed to the Icecast server : http://104.236.126.104:8000/ or http://104.236.126.104/ (port 8000) But now it seams like that server is dead... An other developper set it up for me, so I don't know if we just need to re-activate it by paying or else... It was working in December 2017. I use the application

Samba upgrade on dedrat linux
I'm running samba 2.2.5 on a redhat 9.0 server. I'm planning on upgrading it to 2.2.8a tomorrow. My questions are thus: 1) I has hassles before when doing this on another redhat box because samba was installed with redhat's own rpm's which install in different locations. Would it be OK to do rpm --erase for all the redhat packages (samba, common, client, swat,

All of the arrays are located in a struct. At the moment we don't detect that these arrays are disjoin, and this prevents vectorization. Indeed, they look like simple changes. If no one is dying to get them
