nmbd dies as soon as it's started
As soon as I start up the daemons using the following commands, nmbd dies. /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D When I view the nmbd.log it gives the following. We're trying to set up Samba to work over 2 subnets. Smbd is ok and we can still mount our shares. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help. [2002/10/22 10:37:55, 0]

nmbd dies every day
Hi there, i have 2 samba servers (1 with ver 3.0.0-15 - will do an update soon - other with 3.0.2-7.FC1) both installed on Fedora 1.B and my problem is that for some reason one of them (3.0.0-15 to be exact) stops every day a few hours after everybody goes home. I had the same version on the other server and that never happened. Please any ideas why this happens? [2004/05/13 20:20:36, 3]

nmbd dies at random
Hi I have a small network with a samba server running on Debian Woody (3.0) and 11 workstations running Windows 2000 (dual-boot with RedHat 8). For about a year I've had problems with samba (nmbd) dying at random times making it impossible for users to log on. On average it happens once a week, but with great variations (down to 30 minutes). I've never been able to find anything in the

smbd and winbindd refuse to start, but nmbd runs fine on Redhat 9.0
Hi, I downloaded the binaries for samba yesterday for redhat 9.0, and installed them without error. Managed to get swat up and running and configured samba, the same way I configured my other linux (slackware 10.2) box, and started samba thru swat. But when the status page reloads, it shows smbd and winbindd as not running, although it shows nmbd running. When i check the ps list, it shows

But recently the nmbd deamon quit working, sometimes there are two daemons running. It has to be killed and then started again or i

Segmentation fault in nmbd when working with Dave 2.5.2
The problem seems to be that whenever Samba becomes LMB for a subnet, Dave sends a series of broadcast netbios-dgm packets that cause nmbd to segfault. This is only a problem with Dave 2.5.2, Dave 2.5.1 works fine. It occurs consistently, with Samba 2.0.7 and 2.2.0 on linux (Redhat on x86), NetBSD (on mips) and OpenBSD (x86). That pretty much rules out operating system or hardware failure. ;)

Starting smbd & nmbd from xinetd ?
Hi there, Just experimenting with Samba (latest version) running on RH 7.2 Everything seems to be OK, got it running and can access shares but... smbd and nmbd have to be started manually ! ( using # /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D and then # /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D ). Any idea how I set it to start at bootup ? It doesn't show up in the services configuration under the RH

Winbind dies redux
All, I fear I''ve become a pita with this, but windbind periodically dying on one of my machines is really starting to cause grief, and I have no idea what might be causing it, especially as the same config is used on several similar boxes which do not exhibit the problem. While I've posted the problem previously, I thought that maybe this latest log entry after winbind dies

Icecast dies
I'm getting strange behavior with this build. My relays do not work. If I change back to the build on 7/13/05, everything works. However with the new build I get this error message: "[2005-08-01 10:06:16] EROR format-mp3/format_mp3.c Incorrect metadata format, ending stream" Any ideas why? Winbindd dies instantly
You didn't send your mail to the list. ;-) As you said, you have samba-ad packages installed. Uninstall samba-ad, because you only need samba. Samba-ad is for DCs. I would try this to avoid errors to winbind by this package. Am 31. R sometimes dies from within Perl
Hi Guys This is a combined Perl/R question, hopefully there are enough people out there who use both to help me. I am using the latest versions of both on a SUSE Linux 8.2 machine. I am wrapping up R in some very simple perl scripts. My problem is that when I run a series of commands from within R, with a certain data set, one of the commands reports an error but the R process remains active.

a lot off nmbd
Hello, I have installed a new server with mandriva 2007 free edition, with samba 3.0.23d on it. It is good but a new nmbd appears every 5 minutes and they don't die when I stop samba. So, I compiled samba 3.0.24 and ... idem. This is not my first install, on my other servers they're only 2 nmbd. With this install, after one day, I have more than 250 daemons, it is the hell ! What

Yes, that’s what I thought. I’ve also checked the binary downloads for OS X from llvm.org <http://llvm.org/> and get the same broken code from both the 3.5.2 and 3.6.0 releases.

problem with dying nmbd
hello, I have samba 2.2.6 version compiled on RH Linux 7.2. It used to work without any problem for some time but all of a sudden I could not see my shares from Windows PC's. One of the samba processes: nmbd is dying. After restarting samba service smb restart nmbd will last about a few second and will stop. Any advice what it could be I will greatly appreciate. best regards Slawomir

Plot dies with memory not mapped (segfault) (PR#9785)
Full_Name: Clay B Version: 2.5.0 (2007-04-23) OS: Solaris Nevada Build 55b Submission from: (NULL) (65.101.229.198) I find that running this script causes R to segfault reliably. However, running just for one system at a time (modifying the for loop updating iter to run just for a system at a time works). The system is a Sun W2100z with 12 GB of ram, and R segfaults using only around 360 MB of
