Group membership problem migrating from Samba 2 to Samba 3
Hi, I'm building up a new server to replace an old one running Samba2. The new server is running Samba 3 and I'm having a problem getting it to recognise my groups in /etc/groups. I'm using the old smbpasswd backend, not the new tbdsam database. I've copied my smb.conf, and the files from /usr/local/private across to the new machine, as well as /etc/group and migrated the user

Problem adding smb accounts on 3.0.1/ldap
I am setting up a Samba 3 server with ldap support- packages from Debian backports.org- but have run into a problem setting up the samba attributes. If there is a user existing in the local /etc/passwd file then smbpasswd -a correctly sets up the samba user in the ldap directory. However, if I preload the posixAccount and other data for a user using an ldif import then attempt to use smbpasswd to

I've been working with AudioActive the last couple of days to fix their behaviour... looks like they're going to update their firmware EPROMs. What are the chances that Michael's fix below could be incorporated into a future version, so that all those boxes without the Firmware upgrade will work? -Ian. <p>On 10-May-04, at 7:20 PM, Michael Smith wrote: > On Tuesday 11

SYSLINUX PXE LOCALBOOT Bitlockers
That's a great question, actually, I should have remembered to mention that! You can control what factors are used for the TPM's integrity check to release the bitlocker key on boot. Depending on whether your on a BIOS or EFI machine, there are slight differences, but definitely controllable by group policy. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee706521(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_depopt3 I

Help configuring Samba-3 to share $HOME directories
I'm looking for help configuring Samba-3 to allow me to share out home directories from a UNIX host to Windows XP clients so that my Windows domain users can read and write to their home directories on the UNIX host. I've attempted to follow the examples in "Samba-3 by Example" to no success. I've also followed the tutorial: http://bob.rasey.net/archives/000137.html, which
