Using OID as Samba3 backend
Hi, colleagues,
I'm running samba3 Using OID (Oracle Internet Directory) as backend, almost works ok, but the final trick that doesn't work is the change of the passwords from windows dialog box, this change the samba passwords but don't change the userpassword, i have found this line on samba logs files:

Samba 4 and OpenLDAP (and other LDAP servers)
All, devels,
I would like to put in a request the those working on Samba 4 - at our
company, we already have a significant investment in Samba 3 and
OpenLDAP - LDAP is our primary authentication backend, controls access
and configuration of our email infrastructure, and we have written many
scripts and web applications that use OpenLDAP, not least of which is an
automated user account request (by

Which LDAP OID for iphones
Hello,
I'm new to LDAP.
I've read Device class exists (oid 2.5.6.14) in rfc2256.
I've heard a Pluggable Device sub-class (a device with a MAC address) also
exists though I can't find its OID at the moment.
1. Does any standard class specifically defines IP Phones or SIP hardphones
or ATAs or Trunk lines ? What's their OID ?
2. How does one can find by himself if such classes

SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all.
I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire
next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out
there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work.
I have both installed. Single server, polling itself.
Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can
get OID and MIBs from it?
Question 2- does anyone know the command

Samba/Winbind 3.4.4 on AIX 5.3 TL 10 does not retrieve ANY User's Secondary Groups
Hi folks !
Has someone any idea on this issue on AIX 5.3 TL 10 with winbind ?
I'm really stuck now ...
I think everything is working pretty well with WINBIND and AD 2k3 ,
but not my most important point : I absolutely need the Secondary groups of
each AD user which get connected to the AIX to use this filter with sudo...
I only get Primary Group (which is by default "Domain Users"

samba.schema in 3.0.6
I installed samba 3.0.6 today. I had to upgrade samba.schema in openldap as
well to include sambaPasswordHistory and sambaLoginTime, otherwise certain
things would not work (e.g. smbpasswd or users changing passwords)
openldap failed to start because both attributes have the same OID,
...2.1.50.
In order to get started anyway, I changed the sambaPasswordHistory OID to
...2.1.52 (which, in my

migrating thousands of users to openldap in centos!
List, I have 15 Tru64 Database Servers in different places all over my
country, I also have thousands of users in all this servers, Now it's
really a pain to administrate all this accounts in all servers, so I
decided to install one CentOS server with openldap.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to migrate all users from Tru64 to one Centos/openldap
server?
2. Do I have to install openldap

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
Christian
Thanks for the information.
Also thanks to mj.
That's sounds promising
How did you migrate your data?
Did you need to add any schema to samba4 ad?
Were in 5 cities and some of the Internet is not 100% reliable.
Will need samba4 in each office to make sure they can log in even if the
Internet is down.
How reliable is the the ad syncing?
Does it need a lot of bandwidth?

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
We also moved from Samba3/ldap to AD. On the servers we also only use Linux. We had no problem with the move. our mailserver is also cyrus with postfix and also SOGo. Everything works no problems at all. The migration needs to be planned carefully but it is worth the effort. You can still use lam with AD we also use it.

samba 3.0.7 and OpenLDAP
Hello List,
yet another OpenLDAP/Samba problem...
OpenLDAP: slapd 2.2.17
Samba: Version 3.0.7
Debian stable with 2.4.27
I am trying to do this howto (smb auth via ldap):
http://www.idealx.org/prj/samba/smbldap-howto.en.html
Even IF the user does not exits in my ldap table, why does smbd just
exit? Do i start it the wrong way?
This is the output of smbd -F -i -d 9 -S -s /etc/samba/smb.conf

samba-tool user add --uid
Is it a bug or a feature?
While --gid maps to the gidNumber OID of posixAccount, --uid maps to
uid, which is supposed to contain the textual user name. The numerical
uid should be in uidNumber, but there doesn't seem to be an option to
set this.
Of course the aim is to migrate an existing OpenLDAP, Kerberos, Samba3
infrastructure to Samba4 AD.
Thanks for your help,
- lars.
