Samba 3.0.2+ldap, user manager for domains problem
Hello, all!
I'm running samba 3.0.2 PDC on FreeBSD 5.2 with ldapsam backend. Everything works great (thanks to Samba Team!) except adding add deleting users from user manager for domains. Group adding and deleting works normally. When I tried do add user I received error window about remote procedure call error, but disabled user account was created in ldap and it was added to Domain Users

Problems when trying to join samba PDC with W2K8 server
Hello all,
I am trying to add W2K8 server to our domain "ns.local". This domain is
working O.K. for all XP machines we have (~10), but when adding a W2K8
server, I get user/pass prompt and then after typing my* username and
password I get:

Joining a domain with a non-administrator account
I'm trying to set it up so I can join the domain with a regular user
that is part of the domain admin group. I have a user dsonenberg that
is in the domain admin group(512), but I can't join the domain with that
account. For the record I can login with that account and Administrator
can join the domain. The PDC has an LDAP backend. Here's the log.

Joining Windows XP client to Samba 3 domain: Access denied
Hi all!
When I try to join a Windows XP client to a Samba 3 domain I get an
access denied error. Below's my configuration and a snippet from the log
file. Has someone an idea what I need to change / do in order to be able
to join the domain from Windows?
Thx in advance for your help!

Windows machine has to join two times
Hi,
I'm running a debian lenny machine with samba (3.5.0) and OpenLDAP installed
(2.4.11). When i add a machine to the domain, windows reports the following
error: "The specified computer account could not be found". The computer
account is added to the LDAP database but without the samba attributes. The
weird thing is that if i try it a second the, the samba attributes are added to

Migrated PDC to new server
I just migrated my SMB pdc to a new server (was running 3.0.21c, now
3.0.22). Some things seems to be ok. net rpc list; net rpc testjoin
seem to work. But if I attempt to join a windows system to the domain I
get "The following error occured while attempting to join to domain
"DOMAINNAME": The user name could not be found". The machine name is
getting loaded into ldap.

problem login W2k-sp2 and 4 to samba 3.0.2: profiles
Hi once again
Now I have almost everything working, that is, Samba 3.0.2 with Ldap
database (messages ok when reading), and I want it to be a PDC,
everything seems to work fine when registering machines or users, but
when logging, I mean, entering W2k-Sp4, my computers (two of them) reset
themselves: they begin to load the user defined stuff and then when one

PDC LDAP- user can't log in
Hello,
I'm trying to configure a Debian woody with samba 3.0.5 and ldap from
www.backports.org. I managed to get to the point where I created a user
with
smbldap-adduser -m -a
smbldap-passwd
smbpasswd
I can log into the server with this user and smbclient
//server/user -Uuser%pass works as expected.
The WinXP is able to join the domain and the machine account gets created in ldap.
But I

samba/ldap setup stopped working (might be a challenge)
Hi,
two days ago my functioning samba/ldap server stopped working. I *think* the
problem is somehow related to the fact i transfered everything to a new
server, but that was two months ago. Trouble started yesterday morning after
a power-outage.
Configuration: ubuntu 8.04, with a standard samba, ldap and smbldap-tools
installed via apt-get.
When users tried to login, they got a message "a

Windows 7 against Samba+LDAP does not work with some passwords
Dear all,
I have installed Samba (3.6.6) on Debian wheezy and configured it to
authenticate against LDAP (encrypted passwords, no lanman). I want
simple shares with user security. I have configured PAM/NSS from the
same LDAP and it works fine.
WinXP works fine, smbclient works fine, but Windows 7 only works for
SOME passwords. Some work, some do not.
Samba is configured with restricted LDAP

Previously extended schema not working in 4.4.0
Thank you Andrew, really appreciated.
I have now run 'samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs --fix' and it has
successfully fixed some errors; there were 110 previously, however there
are still 69 remaining after a second pass of dbcheck --fix.
The remaining errors seem to be mainly of this form:

Local lmtp proxy on backend server
I am staring constantly at the same logs, this is what I get from
dovecot[1]. Sendmail[2] is sending with test at svr1 maybe this overrides
lmtp proxying? This is a test with a special-userdb passwd-file also
having host=svr2

Thank you, Andrew - I hadn't done so. (In a good way, I haven't yet had
problems with samba that have caused me to delve quite so deeply into the
DB :) so I'm not as familiar with the range of tools as I could be, sorry!)
This has flagged up quite a few errors, all along the lines of:
# samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs
Checking 4079 objects
