Automounting Samba shares for Linux clients?
Is there a way to configure the latest version of Samba to automount shares when a Linux client logs into a Samba PDC? I have searched high and low trying to find an answer to this and the only information I have found is using pam_mount (which I have yet to get working correctly) or NFS. When searching for an answer, I came across comments such as "NFS is the best way to mount shares in a

automounting home dirs
Hi, I'm running dovecot-1.0.10 on a Solaris 10 server with home dirs automounted over NFS. I have set the mail_location configuration option so that nothing should be written to a user's home dir over NFS but, as far as I can tell, dovecot still by default tries to chdir to a user's home dir when reading mail, although this is not required. This creates additional unnecessary load on

Automounting DFS path published shares under RHEL 5 with Samba?
I'm dealing with a Linux environment with extensive automounting, that also has DFS configurations for the Windows clients of various CIFS systems. I've got CIFS automounting working for various CIFS servers, which definitely has its uses, but I'd *love* to be able to mount the DIFS published paths for the CIFS shares? Basically, if I have shares called \\example1\share1 and

Automount homes via smb question
I'm working on a client setup for thin-client machines in an AD with about 2000 users. One of the requirements is that the server (an LTSP box) not store each and every user's home directory. All of our users have a Home Folder setting in their AD object, and I'd like to use samba to mount that as "home." What works now: smbd, nmbd, winbindd. Compiled Samba 3.0 onto a

"Too many levels of symbolic links" with glusterfs automounting
I set up a 3.3 gluster volume for another sysadmin and he has added it to his cluster via automount. It seems to work initially but after some time (days) he is now regularly seeing this warning: "Too many levels of symbolic links" $ df: `/share/gl': Too many levels of symbolic links when he tries to traverse the mounted filesystems. I've been using gluster with static mounts

Automounting (hotplug) with HAL on CentOS 5
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I would like to get add a new Wiki entry regarding Automounting with HAL for CentOS 5, since the behaviour is very different than CentOS 4. Main points: - - Making automounting hotpluggable devices work with other WMs - - Overriding the default mount point - - Overriding the default mount options (noexec etc) Small nightmare here to find out how

2.0.5a configure bug fcntl test on automounted source dir
Hello, I believe that I have found a bug in the 2.0.5a configure process. If the source tarball is extracted to an automounted directory, and you run configure, it will fail the fcntl_lock test, resulting in this message at the end of the configure process: WARNING: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe To verify that the automounted directory is the problem, I put an "exit

Automounting
Is there a way to make samba automatically mount a home directory? That is, a user logging in (from Linux), enters its username and password(Samba), and the system automatically mounts the user's home directory from the samba server(without asking the password again). Has anyone ever tried to do this? And succedeed :-) ? -- nneves@di.fc.ul.pt Dept. Informatica, Fac.

Using other automount maps
Environment: HP-UX 10.20 Samba 1.9.18p10 ; compiled with -DAUTOMOUNT option. We are using our samba server to mount various automounted directories including user's home. auto.home map takes care of mounting user's home automagically but for other directories, I have to put a share name for each of them (and there are hundreds of them). Is it possible to define one share name (like

Automounting a shared Windows Drive with
Hello, I have a few ideas about how to make my Linux server mount up a shared folder on a Windows machine at boot time, however I would like to know if there are other methods of getting it to work. I have considered building a startup script with a high number to have the system smbmount the shared drive like a service, in case of a power outage. I believe that would be considered

RedHat 5.5 and automounting with fstab
All, I wanted to pass on experience that I have trying to get GlusterFS to automount on RedHat 5.5. The documentation for /etc/fstab (http://gluster.com/community/documentation/index.php/Mounting_a_GlusterFS_Volume) doesn't quite work. I have two servers 192.168.104.151 and 192.168.104.152.
