Samba Errors with 3.0.21b on AIX -- please help
I have been trying for 3 weeks to get 3.0.21b to work on AIX 5.2. I am currently running 3.0.4, which has no problems. I am getting very frustrated, and am about to give up entirely on Samba. Here are some of the errors I am getting: [<root> mcom4:/opt/Samba/3.0.21b/bin] > ./smbclient -L ccasemcom4 -d 3 -N -Ub06reg%Becky1208 lp_load: refreshing parameters Initialising global

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE error message
Hello, all. I'm running into an issue connecting from my PowerMac G4 running Yellow Dog 4.0.1 to our server, which is a dual AMD running Fedora Core 2. The server is running samba version 3.0.10-1.fc2, and the g4 is running samba version 3.0.10-1.ydl.1. I can connect from the g4 anonymously to a share point on localhost: smbclient //localhost/dathan I can connect from the server to the

Dear list, Samba allows our school to use on non-free operation systems on work stations. Or should I rather put it this way: In combination with Debian-Edu, Samba allows us to use free operations systems on servers and work stations despite the fact that some colleagues stick to Windows... Now, we observe a problem that still needs to be examined further on: If the server has been running

Problem with tar commands in smbclient 3.0.23c
Since upgrading from CentOS 4.3 to CentOS 5 the smbclient tar commands seem to be broken. The version on 4.3 was 3.0.10 I believe, while on 5 it is 3.0.23c-2. Here's what happens. Running the command: $ /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\host.domain.com\\backup -A /tmp/ntcredentials works fine. It connects no problem. But: $ /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\host.domain.com\\backup -A /tmp/ntcredentials -Tc

Problem using rpcclient as root user -- can't authenticate
I'm a Samba-3 newbie (all my previous experience is with Samba-2), and that may by the crux of the problem. Samba 3.0.14a-2 came bundled with Fedora Core. Since this server will be taking over the functions of the Samba-2, I copied the smb.conf file over and simply changed the netbios name. It uses a domain security model, and that has not changed. Also, using the rpc net command, I

Can't connect from Windows
I am setting up my first 3.0.1 installation. I am using Slackware 9.1, I am trying to connect to a Windows 2000 Server. I do not need active directory support (as far as I know). The server's function is a file server. So Users need seamless authentication... of course. I do not have LDAP installed. It's a plain server besides the 3ware RAID. I compiled and installed samba 3.0.1,

Authentication failure when accessing Samba server in a NT domain
Hello Samba Gurus, I have configured my Samba install to be a domain member of a NT4-Style domain. The version of samba used is 3.0.13. The domain joining process worked fine (net rpc join). An excerpt of smb.conf is provided at the end for reference. The problem is that when users access this server, they are challenged for the username password. I was of the impression that this process would

samba>=3.0.4 - no more smbpasswd ? no more local auth whenjoined to domain ?
how about redirecting the smbpasswd file to the older version (assuming you have one) using smbpasswd file = /file/path/smbpasswd , I replaced my copy of smbpasswd for 3.09 with a 2.216 and the smbpasswd command stopped working, (no new entry added to the smbpasswd file), but when i used that it worked again "Izo" <I@siol.net> wrote in message news:41B8004E.8050807@siol.net...

failed session setup with NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Greetings, Do you guys know what normally causes this? - Google has a lot of instances of the issue but no resolutions. I'm running FBSD 5.4 with the latest samba. Here's the command and the associated error: insomniac# cupsaddsmb -U root -a -v Password for root required to access 10.0.0.1 via SAMBA: Running command: rpcclient 10.0.0.1 -N -U'root%password' -c 'setdriver

samba member, NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hello, I've followed two or three articles on how to configure samba 4 as a member server. One of these articles is from the samba wiki: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server The server joins, but it cannot authenticate users. I don't care about nss, winbind, etc. unless it is REALLY necessary. All I want is to use this server as a file server for workstations

Nope. Do I need to? For now I only want to authenticate Windows boxes. *nix boxes later. samba>=3.0.4 - no more smbpasswd ? no more local auth when joined to domain ?
I just hope that this time I get heard since obviously nobody reads news://linux.samba ... Platform: SuSE-9.1, kernel-2.6.5, samba-3.0.4 I have recently upgraded from 3.0.2a to 3.0.4 and I have just noticed that using the same smb.conf as with previous version, the system just does not work anymore for me ! Furthermore, smbpasswd utility appears to be dropped ! Afterwards, I have noticed

Can't join my domain
Guys and dolls, Greetings, I hope you all are in good health, great spirits and your glasses never empty. I have a samba, openldap question. I am trying to setup a FC-4 box to be a PDC for a small network of about 150 users. I was following the HOWTO on the SAMBA site. Everything seems to be fine however I cannot join the domain. I get the error "User name could not be found." The

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi, I've installed Fedora C1 with Samba 3.0.2 and openldap 2.1.22. I've followed the example in the Samba-3 by example guide to use my server as a PDC. I'm able to connect to this server with all my users but I'm unable to use "Administrator" to log. Maybe it's normal but I doubt it. Here's the log I got for smbclient: [root@fs01 sbin]# smbclient -L

read only share access after upgrade to 3.0.10
Hello Samba gurus. I'm in upgrade hell after upgrading my backup rh9 server and fc2 linux box to 3.0.10 from 3.0.7. rh9 rpm package was from the samba site and the fc2 rpms from redhat. I now have a system where the win xp and win98se machines on the network can read/write to the backup share but my fc2 box only has read only access to the share - it could write before the upgrade. Call timed out: server did not respond...
Hello All, I don't know how, but I managed to get my no logon server found error to go away, but now I am experiencing another problem. When I run "net join ads -d 3" I get the following error message. I know it's authenticating, because if I enter an incorrect password it says "The username or password was not correct." So it's accessing the correct server, but
