Clients can find printer when "browsing" but not otherwise
I had a working Samba installation on my home network. Then I replaced one
printer with another. The new printer is successfully installed on my RedHat

However, I am unable to print to this printer via Windows XP boxes on my
network. Samba is working to the extent that Windows can find these printers

Share trash can?
Is there a trash can, or a way to add one, so that if a user deletes a
file off the share it just goes away until a nightly purge is done?
Thanks,

samba & rsync
If anyone has time to look at this problem I would appreciate it.
I think I am looking for a way to increase the "timeout" in samba (in the
smb.conf file)
for reporting a "down" link or "can't read xyz file".
However I am writing to you folks because this problem has come up while
using rsync

configuring samba-LDAP-PDC using IDEALX tools
I am using smbldap-tool from IDEALX on my Fedora Core 1 samba 3.0.5 PDC. I have been following their guide step by step and I am getting the following error message as I try to get SID. I have looked in google group, but I couldn't exactly find anybody who had the same problem as I do. Please help me if you can!

LDAP, is just me or the Samba How-to?
I was trying to restart my LDAP service and used /etc/init.d/slapd restart, but it said "slapd: unrecognized service." so I tried /etc/init.d ldap restart and it says that restarts the service slapd [ok]. I tried to look for the service on webmin and slapd doesn't even exist. Is the problem on my side or is there a mistake on the Samba-HOWTO-Collection?

do I have to have Domain Name for LDAP
Do I have to have a domain name called EAGLES.com in order to have LDAP working with Samba 3.0 as my PDC?
This is from my "slapd.conf"

rootdn "cn=Manager,dc=EAGLES,dc=com"
as I try to login from windows 95, I get the following message in the log file.

last chance...joining XP to samba+ldap domain
I have tried all I can and spent days trying XP to
join my domain. I have finally come to a dead end: I
don't see any logs in nmbd.log, smbd.log,
<xpclient>.log or messages. Everything seems to work
perfectly.
the only exception to what I said in the last
paragraph is the following message in nmbd.log file
as I try to join the domain.

I need to remake the rpm, but i don't know where the samba.spec file is in
SuSe.
Also if any has been successfull setting up SAMBA LDAP, can you please send
me information on how to accomplish this.
Thank you
