How to use ldapsam only for authentication?
Hi Meike, As far as I understood you are using ldapsam only when Samba is running as AD domain controller. And when Samba is running as AD DC, all user stuffs go to AD and so ldapsam. In the configuration you described I expect your users are existing twice: once in /etc/passwd as Linux users and once in Samba TDB as Samba users. As there is work to do to the change you speak about, why not

Migration from 3.6.25-0ubuntu0.12.04.10 to 4.x with passdb backend = ldapsam
You a sure. I have already configured openldap, which is workd as expected with old smb server. net getlocalsid & net getdomainsid returns the same SID. LDAP sambaDomainName=EXAMPLE has the same SID in attribute sambaSID. Also DIT has windows groups like Domain Users' etc ... Unfortunately I can not find the reason for the unexpected exit of child smbd process. Do your mean that I must

How to use ldapsam only for authentication?
Hello, > As far as I understood you are using ldapsam only when Samba is running as > AD domain controller. it is only a standalone server, no sid/gid (mapping) needed. All users and groups are local (passwd/groups) maintained. We only want to authenticate the users against the ldap server (openDJ). No Active Directory is used. But if I configure, there are a lot (to much) ldap

Problem with "ldapsam:trusted = yes"
Hi, I updated from 3.0.11 to 3.0.12 and tried the new ldapsam:trusted parameter. Alas smbd dies silently a second after startup. With debug level 2 I can't see any reason in the logfile. My smb.conf is (relevant part I hope): ================================= [global] workgroup = BBS_XXX netbios aliases = fileserver revreselif passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://localhost

ldapsam, Sun JES Directory Server, Solaris 9
Hello, Help!! I'm struggling with ldapsam. I'm trying to configure Samba to use our LDAP directory (Sun's directory server) for the storage of Samba user accounts. It already stores our unix system accounts. I have successfully imported the schema file into our directory server and have compiled samba with the "--prefix=/opt/btifs/samba --with-ldapsam" options. 3.0.23 ldapsam:trusted=yes problem
Hi all! I've a running Samba PDC (LDAP backend) with windows clients. All the users are in the LDAP, including the 'guest' user. All except the 'root' user which is a regular user. Then change in the smb.conf ldapsam:trusted = yes ldapsam:editposix = yes and noticed some speed-up when listing groups, look file ownerships, and so on. But I can't add machines to the

Solved: ldapsam backend for standalone server - is it possible?
Hi, List, Now this works, as expected. Top-posted here for a simple confirmation. Once I rebooted the samba+ldap server, everything started working. So maybe it was just cached ldap indexes together with the cached samba info that blocked the authentication. Thanks, J --- J Xu <janix2000@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > > --- Volker Lendecke <Volker.Lendecke@SerNet.DE> > wrote:

Ldapsam Editposix & idmap help required
Hi, I am more or less following this tutorial Ldapsam Editposix = http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix but can't quite get my domain to work. I think the issue is with the idmap part of the smb.conf but can't quite figure out what's wrong with it or what the correct format should be. My SMB.CONF file.... #interfaces = lo0 em0 127.0.0.1 bind interfaces only = no

Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
Hello list, Can someone tell me why I keep getting these kind of errors in the samba log files? I just went over from 2.2.5 to 3.0-alpha 18, I never had these errors in the 2.2.5 version. Especially the rid [0] is a complete mistery to me since I have no account defined in my ldap service that has rid 0. Thank you very much for your help. Hi again, I just wanted to add this to make my information more complete: The id primary group id of user "eddie" in the ldap tree is 500:201. 201 is the group "Domain Users" But you have to know that user "eddie" also excists with id and gid 500:500 in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files. Examining the log file below, this raises the following question to me: Is
