Problem : Samba 3.0.2a as PDC with Win2000 Pro
Hi, all....
Honestly I'm a newbie in Linux. For a couple days,
I've been trying to build my own PDC server.
I've got enough manual resource for guidance, but
somehow, untill now I can't log my Win2000 Profesional
into the PDC server.
I'm using Debian sid kernel 2.6.5, Samba 3.0.2a and a
Win2000 box as client. I think there's nothing wrong
with my smb.conf ( I guess...

can't see share from win2000
I have a home network with samba running on my gentoo machine. The samba
share is visible to all my home machines (XP home edition and win95). My
work laptop (win2000) however, does not show the share in the network
neighborhood. When I try to connect to the share directly by typing \

problems with multiple linux boxes hitting WIN2000 shares, cifs cifs-1.20c-2.4, linux 2.4.27 kernel
We have a cluster of webservers running smbfs mounts.
I switched one box to cifs, 5 shares pointing at a Win2000,
Monday 11 Oct - a week ago. The box ran fine all week.
It is a moderate use production system - /proc/fs/cifs/Stats
reports several hundred thousand SMBs in a week.
Today I switched another box in the cluster to cifs.
Immediately both boxes began spewing errors like:

win2000 and samba
Hi,
We have a samba server 2.2.4 in a RH 6.2 Linux system. I should say that
the samba server is working well except for a win2000 workstation. For
this win2000, the user can mount network drive to the samba server, e.g.
H: to \\sambaserver\username, it asks the password, if entered correctly.
it is connected. No problem at all. However, if the user reboots the
win2000, the poblem comes.

smbclient -> winpop -> win2000
Hello List,
i want to send messages (information on incomming calls) from
my linux box to my win2000 workstation. For this i use
echo "hell0" |smbclient -M win2000 -I 192.168.0.3
the problem ist that the message appears about 10 seconds
later, a little to late for a call )-: .
The reason for that is the behaviour of smbclient together
with win2000. When i call smbclient like

mandatory profiles - again
Hello!
Some days ago I posted a message about mandatory profiles, and got a very
useful answer from John H Terpstra with reference to his Samba Guide.
Suddenly logging on runs much faster....
However, I have still one more problem to solve. I have set up the win2000
client to delete the cached profile on exit. The "problem" is that the user
profile remains on the server in

Samba PDC & Win2000
I found out, that the reason Win2000 clients could not connect to Samba,
was because Win2000 uses an unknown uid to log the machine on the samba
domain.
Which uid do Win2000 use? Right now, I have set "Restrict Anonymous =
False" to permit Win2000 clients to connect.
Previously I have used some scripts to add network drives etc. in netlogon.
Win2000 do not seem to call these scripts.

Win2000 and XP can't join Samba(CVS)-Domain
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hallo guys.
When trying to connect a Win2000-Pro or WinXP-Pro to a Samba managed Domain,
it says there is no user key for the login session(germ.: "Es ist kein
Benutzersitzungsschl?ssel f?r die angegebene Anmeldesitzung vorhanden"). The
strange WinNT(4.0 Workstation) did join. In the logs (level 2) is all right.

I am using coplot as follows:
coplot(AVG~LRPI| REGION)
the output seems normal but I get:
"Warning message:
calling par(new=) with no plot"
This is the only explanation that I have for being unable to use par() with
coplot for changing the way the xlab and ylab appears. From within coplot I
can change the text itself but not the font, fontsize, etc,

WinNT4 and Win2000 different behaviour authenticating to printer shares ?
I have set-up a Samba server (FreeBSD 4.5 release and Samba 2.2.2) which is
used in our Office as a PDF-converter. The Server gets the file as a
Postscript file using a Samba Printer share and then sends it back to the user by
e-mail.
This all works excellent using Win2000 on the clients. The user prints to
the share PDF using a Postscript driver, the print job gets sent and a few
seconds later

[pamldap] Problem with win2000 pro
En r?ponse ? Himanshu Khona <himanshu.khona@wipro.com>:
Hi and thanks,
I think i i've resolved my problem :
I saw in the samba mailing-lists that you must put the "encrypted password"
value to "yes" in smb.conf and add the user you want to connect in the
file "smbpasswd".I've tryed it and effectively it is working now!
This is for WIN 2000 and XP I

Solution to XP/2000 joining Samba 2.2.x Domain Problem!
I finally found the solution that many people faced about joining a samba
2.2.x domain with XP or 2000
I've recently upgraded a Win98SE to WinXP, and attempt to join this to the
Samba Domain (of ver 2.2.2), which already have 2 Win2000 as member.
However, although the XP accept the Domain Joining, it denied me to log into
the domain after a reboot, so I tried to view the System Event in the

Hi folks,
From my RedHat Linux box Im using

the network but I cannot obtain the list of shares on Win2000 and Win NT
machines.
Here is what I tried:

Samba, CUPs & Win2000 printing
I'm very new to Linux and Samba so bear with me - I am migrating our
business to a Linux/Samba network from an NT network - using Samba as a
PDC.
We are running RH7.3, Samba v2.2.7a, and CUPS v1.1.14
I have a test network set-up which includes the Linux/Samba PDC server, a
Win2000 client and a HP Jetdirect network printer (Laserjet 4Si)
Domain logons and filesharing works fine, but I

Howto join Win2000 to a Samba acting as a PDC?
Hi.
As you may have noticed, I'm trying to setup my Samba server so that it
is the PDC. I'm reading the howtos on
http://www.unav.es/cti/ldap-smb/ldap-smb-2_2-howto.html and
http://de.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#SAMBA-PDC .
Besides being a PDC, samba should use LDAP as the backend for storing
user stuff.
The LDAP contains the user/group accounts as listed in the

Win2000 connecting to Samba 2.0.6 server
Greetings:
I have just upgraded my Win98 client machines to Win2000, and
now, I am no longer able to connect to my Samba Server, nor any
of the samba shares.
The ip addresses of the Client workstations are in the range of
192.168.0.200 tto 192.168.0.250. The ip address of the samba
server is 192.168.0.4. The client workstations belong to the
'workgroup' group.
