Re: Samba Authentication
Hello,
I just setup my machine to login to a Win2000 Domain. When I then go to
browse network shares using Konqueror, I am still being asked for the
username and password (which I used to login!). I am assuming this is
an error in my smb.conf file (which is below).
Thanks in advance!

Samba, Win XP Not printing
I've been upgrading a client's systems from Win98SE to WinXP and am having an
unexpected problem.
I have 2 Linux servers. One is a print and fax server which has worked fine
with the Win98 workstations. They can browse and find the printer (an HP
LaserJet 5Si) and print without problems.
The server itself is also running HylaFax and is printing with out a problem.

Hello, *
Here is my current smb.conf . I didn't want to send it immediately (in some
groups that is not done) and I have omitted some dozens of shares at the end,
which are similar to the ones present.

Domain master vs. workgroup master?? (messages about domain master browser)
Can anyone tell me what to do about the messages I'm getting, or should I
ignore them?
I think my SuSE 9.2 box is configured to expect a doman, and there isn't
one, just a workgroup. Most things seem to be working ok, except for the
messages:

Samba, CUPS, or ?
I've been going over a problem and haven't been able to resolve it.
I think I've narrowed the problem down to Samba, but I could use some advice
on this. ?
A few weeks ago I installed a print and fax server for a client. ?I used an
old PII system with 64 MB RAM, SUSE Pro 9.1, configured to use Samba and
HylaFAX. ?There are 8 client workstations running Window 98 SE (most of the

We have two SUSE SLES 9.0 x86-64 servers on gigabit network, one with

about 60MB/s for RAID10.
But when you copy to server, speed are about 8MB/s. I have set up ftp

Samba shares lost from Windows/Mac after ~ 1 min
Hi,
I have Samba 3.0.13 running on Suse 9.2 on an i586.
I can browse and connect to the Samba shares on Windows XP and Mac OSX.
However, about 1 min after connecting, the shares are lost and gone from the
network environment - same for Windows XP and Mac OSX.
The Windows shares mounted on the Linux machine work fine.
Is this a know problem?

Samba login scripts
Sorry to post a newbie question which may of been asked before but I am struggling to get my head around how to get login scripts to work using samba.
I am currently testing Suse Standard Server 8 which comes with Samba 2.2.8a-UL. Using the Suse graphical web interface I can setup users and groups and also setup smb shares. I have told the linux server to act as a PDC. I can't find anywhere

Strange Samba Problem
Running SuSE 9.2. This problem happens with both the SuSE-supplied Samba on
the DVD, as well as the SuSE update rpms to 3.0.9. We even removed all the
*.tdb files and recreated the installation from scratch, as always carefully
following the steps in S3BE. FWIW, this same config worked previously on this
and earlier systems; we did not change anything on this system (other than

Access Problems
Hello,
I have a very strange access problem, and do not know how to get rid of it.
We have a server with a Raid 1 installed running under SuSE 9.2 (Samba
3.0.9-2.3).
There are some shares where several users need access to. The permissions of
the directories are
rwxrwxr-x user1 users
when files on that shares are accessed by a Windows Client a strange behaviour
occurs.

SAMBA write error on SUSE 10.0
Hi all,
I use SAMBA 3.0.13-1.1-SUSE on a SuSE 9.3 Pro boxed version.
Has anything changed w.r.t SuSE 9.3's SUSE 10.0 Samba versions? I use
the same setup in swat. Ver. 3.0.20b-3.1 (or 3.0.20-4) does not behave
the way it should.
PROBLEM 1:
Last week I installed SUSE 10.0 boxed version with its SAMBA version
3.0.20-4 (Updated by YOU to 3.0.20b-3.1-SUSE), on a x86_64 System. All
works, but
