Win 2000 client thrashes network when printing to samba printer
Hello all,
To start off with, I will admit to being very much a samba newbie. Having
said that, I set out on Friday to set up what I thought to be a very simple
task. I wanted to share a HP inkjet printer off of an old laptop.
I spent quite a bit of time on it and finally friday evening, I was able to
get things working (I thought). Finally, test pages from all the clients

Cygwin rsync and the Window XP SP2 firewall
Hi!
We want to use cygwin rsync to implement an autoupgrade feature for our
software. For that we invoke rsync to connect to an anonymous rsync
server on the default rsync port (873). This works just fine but there
is one problem. When rsync is invoked the Windows firewall displays a
message like this:
"To help protect your computer, Windows Firewall has blocked this

how to resize heatmap without rescaling?
I am using R version 2.12.1 on Win XP.
I have done a heatmap with dendrogram using the heatmap.2 function.
The heatmap basically looks like I want it to be, but the labels of the
columns are cut off.
I.e. the textual labels of the columns, although they are not very long
(less than 12 characters), do not fit into the window and can not be read
entirely.
If I manually resize the graphics

I create a share (say, VistaShare) on Vista client, and have a DFS root =
share (say, SambaShare) with the VistaShare. I also set appropriate =
permission for the share. From windows XP, 2003 server, I can access the =
share without a problem.
But when I use the Vista client, I get permission deny message.=20

Printing: Access denied, unable to connect
I have been having a printing problem recently on a setup that has worked
for quite some time. Configs below. The symtoms are slightly different
on a W2K and a WinME workstation, but the result is the same; no printed
output. However, when I print from the local Unix server or from any
other Unix server in the network the output is as expected.
The W2K machine reports 'Access denied,

binary copies vs ascii copies
I have a question about rsync, which is new for me. Hope you can help me:
I have copied a binary file whose size is about 100 MB using rsync and I noticed that it takes a lot of time.
The same size with a text file wasted really much less time.
That binary file is incremental, i.e. it started with a size of 2 kb and then it grew up.
But now I am confused with the following:
Is the

Capistrano SVN help: conflicting copies on prod and local
I''m sure this is an easy fix for folks more familiar with subversion
than me, but here it goes:
I''m running Capistrano and have successfully deployed my app from my
local machine to my live server. The repository is on the server as
well. What happened is I had to generate some files on the live server
in the railsapp/current directory. So now when I try and commit

No incremental copies to localhost
Hi everyone
I am trying to update an mp3 archive from my hard disk to an mp3 player
over a usb link, e.g. after ripping a few new cd's. I seem not to be
able to get rsync to traverse the archive and only write the new files
accross. Instead it copies everything over again, which takes very
long.
I have tried some combinations of options, e.g.
rsync -va SRC DEST
rsync -va --no-whole-file SRC

How to set ZFS metadata copies=3?
Let''s say you are paranoid and have built a pool with 40+ disks in a Thumper.
Is there a way to set metadata copies=3 manually?
After having built RAIDZ2 sets with 7-9 disks and then pooled these together, it just seems like a little bit of extra insurance to increase metadata copies. I don''t see a need for extra data copies which is currently the only trigger I see for that.

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/falcon: use vmalloc to create firwmare copies
Some firmware images may be large (64K), so using kmalloc memory is
inappropriate for them. Use vmalloc instead, to avoid high-order
allocation failures.

Couldn't get video decoding started on a long-running system due to high-order
allocation failures. This seems like a fine use-case for vmalloc.

This series LGTM.
On the other hand, given that the symlinks in the builddir are not used
at all, why not just create them only at install time?
