Win XP Client with Samba AD - Mapping Shares
I'm having issues having WinXP client access shares on my Samba domain. The user account can authenticate to the network using a Win10 client. The win10 client maps the users drives and allows access properly. The WinXP client can join the domain & the user can login on the machine in question. However, attempting to map a drive using "net use" results in an error about an

More specifically, I have a Samba (v 3.0.24 on Debian Etch) share with share permissions (not a domain) mapped to a drive in Windows XP Pro. Whenever someone logs onto an XP Pro computer in the network the drive isn't there. Here's an example: Say there's a document on the shared drive and a

XP clients regularly lost mapped samba share. samba 3.5
Hi all. I have some complaints from Win XP users. Win XP clients regularly lost samba share - mapped as network drive. I don`t see any errors in logs. 1. I have 4 linux machines, with mapped SAMBA 3.5 shares as CIFS. - never lost. 2. Some Windows XP clients have this problem, but some is not. Why i ask ? Because the same clients did not lose a mapped network drive while was WIN 2003 Server.

NT Controller NETLOGON script hosing connects to Samba shares
Hello to all, Please forgive me if I seem naiive, but I'm a unix admin and don't do much with NT. We have an NT network here and a number of Unix servers. I manage the Unix end, someone else the NT network. I offer up homedirs and other shares to the NT clients to make their lives easier. Until recently, I set my Samba servers up with security=domain and set the password server param

Cannot reconnect network drives from Windows XP
Dear Samba List, My Windows XP machine is unable to reconnect my Linux samba network drive when I login. I installed: Win2000_PlainPassword.reg which allows me to connect manually, but it is a requirement that this be automatic on each login. Has anyone found a way to achieve this? Thanks, Dick

How to backup from Win to Linux using smb
> I have big problem: I need to automaticaly copy files from Win'pc to Linux > server. I submitted this one to the mailing list awhile back, but I've made some improvements, so here it is again. We have cron run a script every night that backs up all the systems (Win and Unix) to a single tape. Naturally, the tape capacity needs to be large enough for all the systems involved.

Can't reach Samba shares from Win XP Pro
This seems to be common enough problem. I've used a variety of methods (command line as well as utilities like LinNeighborhood) to mount XP shares on my RedHat 8.0 running Samba 2.2.7. I get consistent problems the other way around. Despite a couple of shares on my Linux partition, I am just unable to do get to it. Network Neighborhood shows my Linux/Samba server but no shares, nor can I
