doveadm pw generates different hash each time it is invoked !?
I am absolutely dumbfounded by "doveadm pw". My understanding is that the command should be used to create a hashed password that should in turn be placed into /etc/dovecot/passwd Here comes the "dumbfounded" part. I was creating a new virtual user, running doveadm pw to generate the hashed password. But when I tried to login via imap, the password was rejected. So I started

Samba 2.2.7a and SunOS 5.8
I have 2 Sun servers. One is running Samba 2.0.7 and I have no problems with response time or performance. The other server is running Samba 2.2.7a and on this server there are performance issues, slowness and long response times with long latencies over 400 msec. Both Sun server's are running SunOS 5.8. Is Samba 2.2.7a supported on this Unix box or is for a Linux server? Should I be

ztdummy won't compile
For both the latest CVS and the packaged distribution. I dug up the patch that Jean-Denis Girard posted to the list fall 02 to fix the usb problems with the 2.4.20 kernel but that won't apply (not a big suprise). Is this code already integrated? Any other know issues with ztdummy? This is on Suse 9 (kernel 2.4.21-99 SMP). Here's a quick snip of the errors that are thrown when I

Access denied error when trying to join XP to Samba Domain
Hi everyone, I know this one has been addressed before. I have had so much trouble getting the IDEALX scripts to work that I set about writing my own and they almost work. The trouble is with the add machine script. The first time I do the join, I get an access denied error message on WinXP. I have verified that an entry for the machine was successfully created in ldap. Then, I try again

Citrix, Samba PDC experiences.
Hi all, I've dug through the lists and google, but haven't found very much info on using Citrix with a samba PDC. The small number of messages and information I've found, lead me to believe it will work. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge they'd be willing to share? I'm currently involved in rolling out Citrix for proprietary windows apps for remote offices.

Problem with RH 9 and Samba version 2.2.7a-8.9.0
I'm upgrading to a RH 9 box and using the version of Samba that comes with RH 9. I notice this error message in the smbd.log file; [2003/11/21 21:15:19, 0] smbd/oplock_linux.c:linux_init_kernel_oplocks(287) Failed to setup RT_SIGNAL_LEASE handler It seems to effect the "domain admin group" parameter. VoicemailMain Issues
I am not sure what is going on, but * is restarting itself every time a user hangs up after calling to check their voicemail. I am running CVS-HEAD-07/26/04-22:14:48, and this problem just started happening after I updated last night. I am rolling back to CVS-7/14/2004 so that we can keep working, but we need to address the voicemail issue. I will open a bug if this is not just something on my

Auto-duplicate mailstore?
I am looking for something that is similar to replication, but without a second server. I currently have a system setup using postfix bcc to write out copies of all email, but what I would rather do is just have all the mail written to /usr/local/virtual/%u/Maildir and also to /backup/usr/local/virtual/%u/Maildir (for example) as this will make restoring messages much simpler. -- Gods don't

Passing data to aov
Hello Again Gurus and Lurkers: I?m trying to build a very user-friendly function which does aov without having the user type in a formula (which would be tedious in this case). The idea is to take the response from a PCA score matrix, and the factors from a list. A simple example is the function given below, along with test data and a sample call to the function. I'm certainly having

mdraid woes (missing superblock?)
I have a raid1 array which is somehow faulty. There is 1,5 TB of stuff, I would not want to lose it (though I have full backup). The array cannot be mounted on startup (error message was "missing superblock"). I had to boot from DVD with linux rescue and remove the array from fstab. Here is some info - I am a little dumbfounded. [root at a134-224 log]# cat /proc/mdstat (...) md5 :

More info on 3Ware 9550SX from the field (in case anyone else is interested)
From a buddy of mine that has spent a little time with the new cards. This was in response to my email asking about his impressions of them: It just came out in mid-September. There are a couple reasons I'm not thrilled with it: 1) no 8-port multilane version (only 12) 2) the 8-port non-multilane version is a kludge, connector-wise (a row of 3 double-stacked connectors along the

Certified Fraud Prep Exam
Hello everyone, I am new to WINE, and it's abilities. I am trying to run a prep program that is designed for windows (obviously) and I am getting wicked errors. Sadly, the makes of the software have absolutely no knowledge of Linux. I got a direct x error, and fixed it via their solution. That lead to another error, and the vendor and I are working on this problem. I could easily

SPOOLSV and XP PRO
Hi All I recently began having issues where there would be a runaway SMBD process listed in TOP, having a Pri of around 25, and using 70 to 95% CPU indefinitely. IPTRAF reports around 600kbps constantly in and out from the subject workstation, with nothing going on - on the workstation. This traffic is parallel to the runaway SMBD process ... the traffic dies when the SMBD process is
