Merely Opening Excel Files Increments Last-Modification date on Samba Shares
I have had the same problem: Shared files, not owned by the user in question, were being deleted and re-written upon saving the file. Because Excel only gives user (not group) permission, it will muck up access for other users in the group. In my case, I was not enforcing anything (when the problem occurred) and my .conf only had the bare minimum of information, I also used method 3, but put a

Merely Opening Excel Files Increments Last-Modificationdate on Samba Shares
I have found the following regarding this problem: 1. It occurs only on files that (a) the user does not own AND (b) samba is forcing write permissions on (e.g. with the "force group" or "force create mode"). 2. Problem does *not* occur when "force create mode" and similar are left out of share definition, and you rely on the default standard 644 file modes and 755

Insufficient access error
I've been working on getting Samba 3.0.4-2 to join our test W2k3 Active Directory for most of the day. When I try to join with this command : net ads join -U w702a-palmadesso "w702\NonCatComputers" According to my official Samba HowTo Book this should join the domain specified in my smb.conf. Instead I get the following output : [root@w72l-tux samba]# net ads join -U

Winbind
I am running Red Hat 9.0. I recently upgraded to Samba 3.02 from 2.8 using a binary. Before the upgrade, winbind was available in RH's Service Configuration as a service to be started on startup. After the upgrade, winbind is no longer available in RH's Service Configuration GUI and I must start winbind manually. The winbind script is in /etc/rc.d/init.d/ that RH's Service

barplot() using beside=TRUE and the density argument
Hi I am using barplot() to draw some barplots, with a matrix as the data so that multiple bars are drawn for each data point. I want to use the argument "beside=TRUE" to juxtapose the bars instead of stacking them. If I execute: barplot(data,names.arg=names,density=c(20,10),beside=FALSE) I get the expected behaviour i.e. the bottom part of the column is shaded 20 lines per inch, the

barplot: space makes beside=F (PR#7668)
Full_Name: Ondrej Medek Version: 2.0.1 OS: Linux/Debian Sarge Submission from: (NULL) (147.32.127.204) Hi, I had a R version 1.5.1 and I used a 'barplot' with 'beside=T' and 'space' has been vector of 8 numbers 'space=c(1,0.5,rep(c(0.5,-0.5),3))'. Then I upgraded to the R 2.0.1 and my graphs are broken. If I use any vector of more than 2 elements for

'beside' option for boxplots
Is there any way to get a boxplot of several data sets beside one another on the same graph, as there is for barplot? If I do: d1 <- data.frame(a = c(rep(1:3, each = 3)), b = c(1:9)) d2 <- data.frame(a = c(rep(1:3, each = 3)), b = c(9:1)) boxplot(d1$b ~ d1$a) boxplot(d2$b ~ d2$a, add=T) It will show the two datasets on the one graph, but the middle point will overlap. What I want is

Adding a line to a beside=TRUE barplot
Greetings – Grateful for any help on this one: In the following demo code, I am trying to get the points in the line to appear over the same x-axis labels as are used by the paired Bars. It appears, however, that R/lattice ignores the x-axis points used by the bars and plots the x points for the line at ½ points. Can you help me tweak this code so that the nth bump in the line

Pls. HELP : v1.9.18p10 much more robust with security=server than v2.04
Hello samba-list-reader, why is samba v2.0x worse than v1.9.18p10 with respect to NT-authentification with security=server ? I have exactly the same smb.conf on two servers, one running samba v2.04b and the other running samba v1.9.18p10 (Sun Solaris2.6). With v1.9.18p10 everything works fine since months. On the server running v2.0x in about 10% of all NT-authentification-tries (with net use

Slow listing of mapped drives in Explorer
We recently moved our Linux file servers from Debian Woody to Debian Etch (v4.0r3). We use the current stable Debian Samba package which is version 3.0.24. Since moving to this Samba version from 2.2.8a-0.1 we see that Windows clients are very slow to list the 5 network drives mapped by our domain login script in Explorer or "My Computer". It can take 10 seconds or so before the drives
