Rsyncing Windows directory to a Linux box: problem with spaces in directory names
Hello, I am trying to rsync folders/files hosted on a Windows machine to a Linux machine. Many of the directory names have spaces in them. How can I list them in a file so that the --include-from option use them correctly? Thanks! Charles -- Charles-E. Nadeau Ph.D http://radio.weblogs.com/0111823/

Equivalent between rsync -aHr and cp -al
Hi, Just a quick question. I am looking for a replacement for the command "cp -al" which has problems dealing with a massive amount of files (http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-coreutils/2003-12/msg00028.html). Could I use "rsync -aHr" to do _exactly_ the same thing as "cp -al"? I just want to make sure before trying it. Thanks for your help. Charles --

download.file() help! setting the proxy for user /passw0rd
I would like to download climate data files from PCMDI website using R. I tried this line below and I was not able to get the file mainly due to user name and password requirements. I am looking for help for setting up the user and password within R (or somewhere). I have read the FAQ but unfortunately I am a newbie on R and couldnt figure out how to do it. Many thanks in advance

restore deleted user (ldbrename) on samba 4.9.1 fails
sorry it's not working any more. At least if you have more then one DC. I didn't get an answer to this problem so that's the reason why it will not be part of the new samba4 book :-( Am 15.10.2018 um 15:47 schrieb Oliver Heinz via samba: > Dear list, > > I am trying to restore an deleted user object with samba 4.9.1 (sernet > packages).  I am aware that the object will

I wouldn't be surprised if they both use the same driver. I think they are essentially the same model, but with one having a slightly larger battery. My issue is primarily with the UPS turning back on after having shut off like it should. @Scott Colby if you take a look at the config files I posted in the github issue I created, perhaps that will give you some hints on your issue. restore deleted user (ldbrename) on samba 4.9.1 fails
Dear list, I am trying to restore an deleted user object with samba 4.9.1 (sernet packages).  I am aware that the object will lose some attributes without recycle bin enabled (enabling it is still not recommended, right?) I tried to rename the object in order to make the  necessary modifications afterward (as documented in Stefan Kania's Samba 4 book). But ldbrename already fails. root

Database passwords with numbers
I have database password in my database.yml as "passw0rd" however when I go to http://localhost:3000/rails/info/properties I get this error: private method `gsub'' called for 1:Fixnum But if I just use "password" for my password everything is ok. Any ideas? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

AVRX750/500 issues
Thanks for chiming in @David Zomaya. Tripp Lite replaced my AVRX550U once thinking that the powering back on was a defective unit, but the replacement does the same thing. The SN on the first one is 2935AVHOM87BB00152. NUT has my model listed as protocol 2010, so that needs to be corrected to 2012, but I'm not sure if anyone is doing active development on it right now.
