Hello,
After upgrading a Samba domain member from 4.16.4 to 4.17.5 our shares

wbinfo / Could not convert sid to gid / uid
Hello
My is environment: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, Squid 2.6.18, Samba 3.0.28a
For Squid I need the query of a global group from Active Directory 2003.
This works beautifully, but unfortunately not always. There are global groups which works to transform and others where it does not work.
Here are my entries for test:
# wbinfo -n nobadurl
S-1-5-21-986273330-1409306274-1541874228-9965 Domain Group

idmap_rid: could not convert sid to uid
Hello,
I am trying (again) to get samba+winbind working, with the idmap_rid
backend. I am using a freshly installed samba server and client machine,
with samba-3.0.13. Most things seem to work, but when I try to get
the uid's for the samba users, I run into problems.
# net rpc join
Password: ********
Joined domain IUATST4W.
# net rpc testjoin
Join to 'IUATST4W' is OK

Failed to convert SID to a UID
It works for us with Rocky Linux 8.8 and Samba 4.17.5. DCs are Samba 4.18.2.
Looking at your conf I see this:
I do _not_ have this:
idmap config DOMAIN:unix_primary_group = yes
I have and you don't:
disable netbios = yes
smb ports = 445
server min protocol = SMB2
client min protocol = SMB2
Different:
kerberos method = secrets and keytab
And this is deprecated:
winbind nss info =

"Idmap uid range missing" - 3.0.0beta2-1 on Debian Sarge
Hi there--
I'm using Debian testing ("Sarge") and recently upgraded to 3.0.0beta2-1 from
2.2. It broke, and I've been pulling my hair our trying to get it working again.
I've gone to a Samba HowTo troubleshooting guide:
http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba/samba-diagnose.html
and gotten successfully through test #4 (NetBIOS Name Resolution) but can't get

gnu --target-dir, how to fake with rsync?
Is this in rsync and I just can't find it, or if not, is there a way
to fake this OR, third possibility, is anyone working to add it?
For those who've never used this option - for the GNU cp & mv type
commands they have the
--target-dir="dir"
option. It lets you put the destination directory as the first
argument to cp and mv instead of the last argument.
They added the
