Winbind + Win2003 ADS + Trusted Domain Issue
Hello all,
I am having an issue that I need help with and have been searching the
web high and low for a solution. It involvs using winbind to
authenticate Linux systems against a 2003 Active Directiry domain with a
one-way trust. Here is the lay out.
Domain "ABC" is the resource domain where the servers are located. Domain
"XYZ" is the domain that the primary user accounts

Cannot authenticate with new Red Hat/Fedora SHA512
RHEL6 and Fedora 14 use an improved password algorithm of SHA512 on a
brand new install of the OS (:$6$ in shadow file).

I cannot get dovecot to authenticate. I've search for a way to change
the default algorithm in dovecot and found you should use CRYPT but I

retrieve most abundant species by sample unit
Hi R-users:
[R 2.2 on OSX 10.4.3]
I have a (sparse) vegetation data frame with 500 rows (sampling
units) and 177 columns (plant species) where the data represent %
cover. I need to summarize the cover data by returning the names of
the most dominant and the second most dominant species per plot. I
reduced the data frame to omit cover below 5%; this is what it looks
like stacked. I have

Differencing data by groups
Colleagues,
I am analyzing data collected during oceanographic cruises. We have
conducted many cruises over the last decade. On each cruise we visit ~50
stations. At each station (termed EventNum)we lower an instrument that
measures depth, temperature, salinity and oxygen every few seconds as it is
lowered through the water. Data from all EventNums on all cruises are

samba3.0.23d group permissions not working
Dear all,
I have samba3.0.23d running on FreeBSD 6.1. It is running with "security = ADS" and has been functioning correctly from about 3.0.14 to 3.0.22.
Since I upgraded to 3.0.23(a|b|c|d) group permissions are not honoured by Samba. For example:
drwxrwx--- 107 setup domain admins 3072 Nov 15 19:25 install
The user setup is a windows admin user; this user can access this

winbind and group permissions
Hello,
I have spent the last week and a bit searching google and reading
documentation trying to get this figured. At this point, I have read
the same things so many times, I am not even sure I would notice the
answer any more.... time to ask for some help.
Having gone through what seems like hundreds of posts, I have begun to
see where the problem gets lost in the information provided when

winbind problems with linux domain member
Hey everyone,
I'm having some strange responses, and a bit of trouble with getting
access to a member server on my domain. I've got Samba running on
another Linux box as a PDC, and my Win2k clients can login just fine,
and share between one another. The problem comes in with another
Linux workstation that's setup as a member server.
Here's the relevant smb.conf section from the

EFI & PXE-booting: very slow TFTP performance on a VMWare test setup
Dear people on the Syslinux Mailinglist,
Are there any known problems with the performance of TFTP in (U)EFI
environments in general or maybe just on VMWare?
Right now I'm running tests on two virtual environments using either
VMWare Workstation 11.1.0 on a Fedora 21 system or VMWare Player 7.1.0
on an Ubuntu 14.10 system. Both virtual systems support PXE booting in
UEFI mode. Both systems

Authenticates on lan but not through VPN
Hi
We have a samba server which has been working fine for four years, SAMBA is configured as an Active directory domain member (SECURITY=ADS in the conf file), using Kerberos tickets to allow it to authenticate users.
SAMBA is not however performing in pure native ADS mode as it is using WINBIND TRUSTED DOMAINS ONLY=YES
Local and VPN connected users have worked fine.

Preforming an action/trigger after a user successfully authenticates
Hi -
I have searched the docs for v1.0 RC7, but cannot find what I'm looking for.
What I'm ultimately wanting to do is have Dovecot preform some action,
or a trigger, when the user is successfully authenticated. Even more
specifically, I'd like to run another SQL query to record a date/time
for last authenticated login.
Short from running a script during logrotate, or constantly

Renamed Win2K Box No Longer Authenticates
My home network uses Samba 2.2.7 as a PDC for a windows network running a mix
of Win98 and Win2K machines. The domain name is JNCHOME.
My office laptop, named MERCURY, is on the PRINCIPIA domain. I successfully
configured PRINCIPIA as a trusted network for JNCHOME so that when I connect
MERCURY to the JNCHOME network I get full access to all JNCHOME services.
This has been working for many

WIN2K authenticates against 2.0.6!!!
Since I didn't receive any replies to my questions or observations, we were
forced to try new things...
We upgraded NT4SP5 (which does everything we want it to do) to Windows 2000 Pro
and magically it now authenticates against Samba 2.0.6 on AIX 4.3.2.
We have some problems however...the logon script does not run and the
