LDAP user search request includes domain
Hi,
I'm running a Samba 3.0.32 server on AIX 6.1, AIX is authorizing with
secldapclntd to an OpenLDAP Server.
The Clients are coming from a Windows 2003 Terminal Server Thin Client
session, logged in to the domain.
I see in the logs that secldapclntd tries 3 times to authorize using
DOMAIN\USER as identification, and then finally uses USER(which works).
Is this Samba behavior, or AIX? Is

SAMBA Winbind and AIX and chown not showing ad user id
I changed the separator to + from / and now when I use
users=DOMAIN+mylogin, I get access to a share finally. However, when I
run chown DOMAIN+mylogin testdir, testdir is not set to DOMAIN+mylogin,
it is set to tempfn (temporary id is what the gecos/description says).
In aix land, what do I need to do to get it to use WINBIND to set the
diretory ownership now? My /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg

What can I look at to understand why chown keeps saying user does not

wbinfo -t shows secret is fine

SAMBA configuration nightmare (AIX) - idmaps do not work (core dump), ldap/nss_ldap and pam fail
Well, I have tried really hard to get any of the idmaps to work--in
that, idmap_ads, idmap_rid, and I have tried to use idmap stroage in
ldap with padl (nss_ldap) too, but I have had no luck. If I enable pam
in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg or nss_ldap, I cannot log into the
system anymore. If I enable pam in /etc/pam.conf and use in
/etc/security/users SYSTEM = "WINBINd or WINBIND[UNAVAIL]

IDMAP question.
In Chapter 12 (Identity Mapping) of the Samba HOWTO Collection it states:

Backup Domain Controller
Backup Domain Controllers (BDCs) have read-only access to security
credentials that are stored in LDAP. Changes in user or group account
information are passed by the BDC to the PDC. Only the PDC can write
changes to the directory.
IDMAP information can however be written directly to

Debugging Samba is a total PITA and this needs to improve
Hai Sven,
I do agree on somepoint here, but not all.
First off all, samba does produce usefull reporting info.
Depending on log levels you have set. ( man smb.conf /log level ).
And then again we always have to ask, can you show the smb.conf.
Not that i dont believe you have wrong setting but because i must see you have good setttings.
And the problem is not always/only samba, keep in

Samba ADS on AIX 6.1 TL04
Hi All
I'm trying to intergrate samba server with ADS on AIX 6.1 TL04, for last one
week, with idmap / winbind but no satisfactory results. I have gone through
various links at samba.org relating to winbind, idmapper and followed
http://pware.hvcc.edu/ for precompiled binaries and
http://pware.hvcc.edu/AIX-Samba.pdf which is for AIX 6.1 TL03 though.
I have found the samba which is provided

Issues getting Asterisk Realtime configured and operational
I have installed the CVS Head as of 12/12/04, as well
as the asterisk-addons to ensure that
/usr/lib/asterisk/modules/res_config_mysql.so exists.
I have configured the following (after building a new
DB with the appropriate SQL examples, with mods to
drop the invalid keys, on the Wiki):
- /etc/asterisk/res_mysql.conf
[general]
dbhost = 127.0.0.1
dbname = my_db
dbuser = my_uname

Samba 4.2.10 FS not operational with Samba 4.2.10 DC
Hi,
I'm still trying to overcome the april security patches.
I have set up testing environment with everything Samba 4.2.10:
-client
-fileserver
-NT4-style DC with OpenLDAP backend.
I must make this work in order to figure out the upgrade path to Samba
AD. However, connecting from client to the FS fails because FS is unable
to perform user password check.
I even try to rejoin the FS to
