Print from wine
I'm running debian sarge and have installed wine with "apt-get" (wine
20041201). Afterwards I configurated it with winetools. Everything went
fine. I also installed the Internet Explorer and Office 2000.
There were no problems during the installation and IE and Office run without
problems besides printing. There I get error messages like "no printer
installed".

[p2v PATCH 00/11] Expose virt-v2v's "-oo"; re-enable openstack
Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1792141
Let the user pass "-oo" options from the kernel cmdline and from the GUI
to virt-v2v. This is primarily useful with the OpenStack output mode,
so reenable that mode.

#5209 patch: :dependent => :nullify deletes child records
Hi everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a bug with :dependent => :nullify on
a has_many or has_one. When you delete the parent, the children''s
foreign keys are nullified, as expected. But when you do
parent.child.delete or parent.children.clear, ActiveRecord actually
deletes the child records, rather than just nullifying them.
In my eyes, if you''ve set

Quote, dollar and pipe
Hi All,
By working on our bootstrap puppet scripts (executed wih standalone
puppet), I found a difference between pipe and file parsing :
A simple file with a content :
$ cat withdollar.pp
file { "/tmp/withdoller.txt":
content => ''something like echo $1''
}
When puppet parses the file :
$ puppet withdollar.pp

winbind terminates after machine password change and needs domain rejoin
Hello,
Samba 4.4.7 AD member on Linux SLES 12 here ...
We've been running flawlessly for weeks with version 4.4.5 until we updated to 4.4.6 and experienced this bug: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12369
So we updated to 4.4.7 in which this issue was fixed with an interim downgrade to version 4.4.5 until 4.4.7 was available.
Now, we're experiencing another issue and it seems

Can't resolve address 127.0.0.1
Hi ,
I recently installed Fedora Core 1.
Installed postfix on it and that is running fine.
I am trying to get dovecot to run and I have changed only the following line
from the default dovecot.conf :
imap_listen = 127.0.0.1 since I'd like to install squirrelmail later on.
Now when I try to start dovecot I get "Starting Dovecot Imap: Fatal: Can't

Segfaults from gcc, awk and Zend; advice needed
For some reason I'm getting more or less random segfaults compiling
kernels, world or PHP5 on BETA-3 (Python and perl went ok). So far I
haven't succeeded building a fresh kernel or world. This system is an
Athlon XP with 1MB RAM and 4GB swap, compiling is done in the usual
places in /usr, which is a set of two gstriped partitions. Dmesg
attached.
Previously this system has been

Notifying a service when config file changes
Hello all.
I''m trying to get my servers (syslog clients) to forward syslog-messages to
a central syslog server. I''m using the "line" resource type to add the
necessary entry to /etc/syslog.conf file, and I need a way to notify the
syslog service to restart whenever the config file changes.
Currently, this is what I''ve done:
*service {syslog:

Solaris nss_ldap vs PADL nss_ldap
Hi All,
Any thoughts on why, while everything seems ok at the OS level
(getent , id -a ) Samba
doesn't pickup any supplementary groups when Solaris is configured with
'group: files ldap' in
nsswitch.conf and using it's own native nss_ldap.so.1 but does when
using PADL's nss_ldap?
Everything else is equal.
Do they use/accept different calls or could it be an

:dependent for not destroying
Hi,
Is there a way to use the :dependent option to set a certain attribute
to null rather than destroying the records?
For example, take the following models:
User
id, integer
name, string
group_id, integer
belongs_to :democrats
Groups
id, integer
name, string
has_many :users
If I delete a certain group, is there a way to have the ''group_id''
attribute of all the

rsync and caps on FAT32 disk
hello,
I plan to use rsync for backing up my data to a FAT32 USB disk. I'm running
the last Mandriva linux 2006 and my filesystem is ext8 using UFT-8 charset.
I run into a problem with some of my folders that have full caps names on the
ext3 disk (/home/foo/BAR/ for example).
When rsync creates the folder on the USB disk, it doesn't
create /home/foo/BAR/ but /home/foo/bar/. And then

How do change catalog before catalog is delted?

Is this a HAS_ONE bug?
Let''s say I have:
A BELONGS_TO B
B HAS_ONE A (with :dependent=>:nullify)
But this association does not need to exist. In other words, I could
have many A''s and B''s that are not associated in this manner.
Presently, if I try to delete "B":
1. If B is associated to an "A", this works fine and A.my_B is
nullified.
2. If B is NOT associated, I

Compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 -- Success! But need help with a few issues.
Dominique, cc: compiz,
Dominique, you wanted the feedback, and List, I need your help. I have
installed and fully configured (kicked the tires) on compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0
and on balance it is great. There are a few weird things going on. Most notably,
the number of options in ccsm that now uncheck themselves. In the past (compiz

Serial terminal issues
I can't seem to get my serial terminal to work with my new system.
I had a serial terminal connected to my old system that worked great and copied /boot.config, /boot/loader.conf and /etc/ttys settings over from it.
The new system has a Gigabyte GA970A-UD3 board with just a serial header on the board. I bought a serial connector backplate in an electronics store and connected it to the

I am trying to make a database that will have a group of people set to
committees, and a person can be in multiple committees, and a committee
obviously has multiple people. The people are senators at my

Unusual characters in IE6
Hi all- I am very happy to say that I have successfully installed wine
and winetools. The only problem is, that when I try to type in hebrew
in IE, all the characters come out as a kuf- that is the letter that
shares a key with 'E' on the keyboard. English typing works fine. Has
anyone seen something like this before? According to google, no. Does
anyone know what causes this?
Thanks all.

[RFC] function to parse string to argc/argv pair
Currently, I'm looking to improve rosh and would like to start using
getopt(). I'd like to parse a string obtained by fgets() to be like
the argc/argv pair created by __parse_argv but in a way that's more
cross-platform (such that it can also be used by .lnx files rather
than just COM32) and suitable to use in rosh and lua.c32.
I've made a function and inlined a test program for
