can't join the Domain
I have Samba 3.0.4 running on Solaris 9 sparc platform. I would like the
user use there AD login and password. I have setup similar config on Linux
and it works fine. So I am not sure why is not working Solaris 9. Here is
the error message I am getting.

Supplementary Group Issues
I was wondering if any one else is having issues with supplementary groups
not being recognized. It seems as if Samba is ignoring the sup.groups. I'm
using RH9.0 on Intel with samba-3.0.0-2_rh9 and OpenLDAP 2.0.27. When I do
a "id -a username" the user is in all the necessary groups but when
accessing shares the users' primary GID is used only.
For example,

3.0.2rc1, LDAP, Solaris 9 and secondary group problem - Bug 395?
Hi,
we have tested Samba 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 with LDAP-Support (--with-ldap) on
Solaris 8 and it worked fine.
The machine authenticates against an OpenLDAP server. Patch 108993-23 is
applied and we use native Sun LDAP client modules.
On Solaris 9 we ran into problems with secondary groups. Users cannot
access files if the rights are based on a secondary group and if this
information is stored on

Samba 3.0.23c Install on Solaris9
Hello. I have been trying to find an answer to a problem that has
plagued our systems. I am trying to upgrade from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23c. I
have been able to compile,
but when I go to join it to the AD domain, I keep getting this familiar
error that many others have noted but have not posted many solutions to.

Solaris 9 and secondary group info from LDAP
Hi,
we are running several test installations of Samba 3 on Solaris 8 and
Solaris 9. On Solaris 9, there is a strange behaviour in terms of
getting secondary group information from LDAP.
With later revisions of patch 112960, only /etc/group is interpreted,
but there is no query on the LDAP server for (Unix-) group information.
Here is a short overview about our results:

plot 4th variable contour lines on filled.contour
Hello,
I have a dataset with 4 variables, each consisting of a vector, all with
the same length. I start by interpolating the first three variables
using the function "interp", and plot the interpolation successfully
using "filled.contour". I then interpolate the first two variables and a
fourth using "interp" again, but when I try to overlay the contour

profiles?
Sometimes a user logging in takes a while. I suspect the
time delay is due to the size of a user's profile. Where
is the profile data kept and how can this data be scrubbed
or compressed?

Permissions issue 3.0.2a
Hi,
I have two users (one is me), connecting to the same directory tree on a
Solaris box, for simplicity using smbclient for Samba 3.0.2a. In this
tree, group permissions are set to rwx for a group that we are both in.
I own some dirs, my colleague owns others.
If I log in, I can put a file in any directory in the tree. If my
colleague logs in, he can only write to directories that he owns.

Samba Breaks with ACLs
Hello,
We are running Samba 3.0.23c on Debian.
Over the weekend, we updated out file server to Debian's kernel 2.6.18. We
had previously never run a kernel with ACL support enabled. Since the
upgrade, we are seeing very strange permission behavior. It appears to be
related to POSIX ACL support in Samba.
It seems that what's happening is this.
We have a number of files that are

Solaris 9 and secondary group info from LDAP (Bug 395) - PATCH AVAILABLE from Sun
Hi,
finally the compatibility problems between the LDAP libraries from Sun
and OpenLDAP on Solaris 9, known as bug# 395, are solved. With Patch-ID
112960-22 everything is working as it should.
Tests were OK for a Samba PDC with LDAP backend and a Samba fileserver
with "security = ADS", both on Solaris 9 with native Sun LDAP client.
Secondary group information is requested from the LDAP

ipconfig bug with multiple interfaces
Hello,
if ipconfig is run as ipconfig :::::: (i.e. long spec with all fields empty)
and the computer has multiple network interfaces and only one of them is
connected to dhcp managed network, ipconfig ends up in an infinite loop (see
the log bellow).
The following patch solved this for me. According to README, if the <device>
in the long spec is empty, the first interface should be

Quad monitor graphics card.
Hi there,
I have 4 identical monitors. So I decided to buy (not to expensive,
around 100USD) quad head graphics card. I do not need anything
particular. Only office applications, no gaming. The crucial thing is
that I would like to be able to span a single window across all 4
monitors. I found following cards:
Nvidia Quadro NVS440
Nvidia Quadro NVS420
Both are actually dual GPU. Could you

samba on macintosh
Hi all. New to this list so ... sorry if this is old, but I have searched
honest.
I have been asked to install samba on some (60) macintoshes. The macs run
OSX10.2. I have the developer tools and samba 3.0.0. Configure works but
make crashes out with libsmb/clikrb5.c139: #error
UNKNOWN_GET_ENCTYPES_FUNCTIONS followed by 4 more errors ((caused by the
first?).
I cant see any ref to this or options

Ingress and polishing
Hi,
We are using kernel 2.4.24, tcng version 10b.
I''m trying to do some policing in the ingress queue of the internet
device. Until now we had configured some filters dividing traffic into
queues, and on these queues the Double Leaky bucket meter was applied.
The idea is to have a minimum of bandwidth assigned per class (the cir
values) and a maximum (pir values), just as with the

samba becomes unreliable on upgrading to SOlaris 10
Hello,
we've been more than happy with Samba 3.0.22 on our Solaris 9 machines,
but when we upgraded to Solaris 10 users are experiencing a multitude
of XP desktop problems: icons disappear, start menu will hang because a
few items link back to a samba share, many XP windows write delay
problems, the whole desktop will hang. It seems the samba server will stop responding.
Is there anybody out

Quotas with Maildir and mdbox
Hello,
We use LDAP to store our Maildir++ quota information for our Maildir
mailboxes. I notice in the documentation that only SQL and flat files
are supported by the dictionary quota if I want to use quota with mdbox?
Are there any plans to allow LDAP to be used as the store?
Regards,
Matthew.

Many STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE
I'm in the process of trying to track down the cause of frequent Delayed
Write Failures on our network. Most seem to be from database-like files
(e.g. firefox/thunderbird sqlite files) that are stored in the users
Application Data directory. The AppData directory in our case is on a
mapped network drive and excluded from the set of files copied back and
forth as part of the roaming
