Logoff script?
Is there such a thing as a Samba logoff script? I am currently using
[NETLOGON] for logon scripts, but for the adding and removing of printers
via WSH, I'd prefer to also remove these printers after I log off.

HP-UX and Samba 3.0
Has anyone sucessfully compiled Samba 3 on HP-UX?
I have had no luck so far. The LDFLAG that it uses, I believe -g, but I'd
have to look, is not supported.

UNIX passwords
I have a rather unique setup. I would like to simply use the existing
UNIX /etc/passwd file for my authentication without having an smbpasswd
file existing. does anyone know how to do this?

Issues with trustdom on 3.0.9
I upgraded from 2.2.12 (and kept my tdb files -- it is a possibility that
this is a part of my problem, but let me run it by you anyway). I'm
attempting to do a domain trust between my production domain and a test
domain. However, on my production domain, I have the following problem:
# /products/samba/bin/net rpc trustdom list -U novosirj
Password:

Fw: Spool directory permissions for printing
Hello, I am new to Linux and Samba. I am trying to print from a W98 box to a Linux printer.
I am using Suse 7.2 and Samba 2.2.8a., and Linux is acting as a PDC.
I created a user in Linux and put it in the users group and the lp group. The only way I got this user to print was changing the spool directory permissions (and all the files within it) from 0600 to 0770. BUT when I restarted Linux today,

Samba 3.0.9/10, missing 'net rap printq list' on HP-UX?
I have only this platform to try it on, but observe the following
inconsistencies:
(from the manpage for 'net'):
RAP PRINTQ
RAP PRINTQ LIST QUEUE_NAME
Lists the specified print queue and print jobs on the server. If the
QUEUE_NAME is omitted, all queues are listed.
...OK, so:
[novosirj@njmsa ~]> /products/samba/bin/net rap printq list ljndemo
No command: list

copy files from Linux to NT Server
Hi & sorry if this is too "newbie" of a question but I
just can`t find
a
solution.
I`m trying to use smbclient or at least smbmount, but
both is not
working.
What I want to do is:
copy files via command line (I will have to do that
later with an
automated
script) from my Linux server to the NT Server
(server1) in a directory
called "photo library test" (I tried as well

How to create users accounts with already encrypted passwords ?
Hi, i need to create users accounts into Samba with already encrypted
passwords from a file. I use tdbsam backend and Samba 3.0.24 (Debian Etch)
The file format is quite easy :

First, i create the unix users with their already encrypted password :
useradd -p Unix_passwd login1.
Fine.
But can i do the same thing with smbpasswd or pdbedit

Build Errors, torture tests 3.0.x/HP-UX 11i
I get the following errors when building the torture suite under HP-UX 11i
with HP AnsiC. They are actually somewhat similar to the errors that I get
trying to build the whole package with gcc:
Compiling torture/torture.c

from torture/torture.c:23:

Samba AD support on Solaris and AIX
Hello,
I just found out that the binary Samba Solaris packages on samba.org were not built with AD support. Do you know any reason why? Do you know where I can find binary Samba packages supporting AD on Solaris?
Also although not mentioned, I suspect the Samba package for AIX on samba.org was not built with AD support either. Anybody can confirm this? The same question as where I can find AD

domain administrator is always mapped to root
Hello,
I have found out that a domain administrator is always mapped to root in
the UNIX filesystem:
drwx------ 2 jive smbguests 1024 2004-12-23 18:59 jive
drwx------ 13 salsa smbusers 1024 2004-12-23 18:58 salsa
drwx------ 13 root smbadmins 1024 2004-12-23 18:56 tango
jive is a domain guest user, salsa a domain user and tango a domain
administrator.
Is it possible to change the root

root rq'd to join domain
I believe it was expected that Samba would allow domain joins by people in
the "admin group=" parameter -- I seem to remember reading that
somewhere... I also seem to remember (and have discovered) that, no, it is
in fact "root", or UID 0 only, who can accomplish this task. My question
is, what are the ways around this? There are people in my organization who
will be joining

Sync passwords unix/smb with FDS backend?
Using simple authentication I have been able to tie FDS to Samba 3.x.24.
Knowing that the unix passwd and smb passwd are different, dare I ask
how difficult it would be to have them sync? Most of my users are using
netatalk w/ posix user info and MD5 password. I would like to swing this
over to samba without the worries of two passwords per user. I have seen
blips on this but not directly related

looking for a pam_smbpass user to answer passwd sync issues
I need to let my users change their password using PAM to preserve the
existing ldap authentication system. How can I force pam to sync the smb
password to the unix one.
I am running Fedora 7 package on an x86-64 system. I have smb working
via ldap and sambasam.schema (v3.0.24) I have unix password sync = yes
but it should not come into play as I never plan to reset passwords via
smbd.

Samba 3.0.3: Still cant change password after KB828741
I just downloaded and installed Samba 3.0.3 and it still doesn't fix the
problem caused by the windows update discussed in KB828741. Still

on some boxes, or "The system cannot change your password because the
domain DOMAIN is not available" on others. Uninstalling the update
still works, however this

Need help with SWAT
No matter what I try, I cannot get SWAT to work. No, I'm new to solaris, so maybe I'm not doing something that should be done prior to trying to use SWAT. Samba does seem to be working, somewhat. I can connect to a share using the smbclient on the same solaris system that I installed samba on....but I cannot connect to the share on the solaris system with my Windows XP system. Since it is
