Windows password longer than 8 char
Hello,,
Our Samba servers use SERVER security, and authenticate against the same
MS-Windows logon server (PDC) that serves all our Windows 2K desktops. Any
of us with a Windows network password less than or equal to 8 characters
long can mount the Samba shares seamlessly, just like any Windows file
server. However, if you set your Windows password longer than 8 characters,

Dial zap and music on hold
i tried using music on hold option in the dial command
exten => 7777,1,Dial(zap/1/7777,20,m)
when someone calls me and i picked up the phone, the call will
be suddenly dropped. however, if i use a sip client instead of
zap (also changing the dial statement to sip), i can answer the
incoming call without a problem.
is this a known bug?

group names with longer names than 30 chars [winbind 3.4.7]
Hi All,
I'm unable to do lookups on groups that have a longer name than 30 characters.
Is this a known problem and does it help to upgrade?
Are there any workaround for this?
Best regards

cannot open file exceeding 1000 characters even if created in the same editor.
File is

The trick is the local settings : even if the OS is US

Hi, Samba list readers,
I am forwarding these mails from one of the Linuxprinting.org lists to
you (with the $SUBJECT changed by me), because surely some of you must
have been bitten by this too....
This problem is verified on W2K (but not yet for NT/ME/XP/9x).
Cheers,

script to automatically install printers to win clients?
Hi
I have a samba server 3.0.0-15 acting as a PDC on a
Windows domain (98, XP and 2000). Is there a way to
automatically install printers to windows clients
when users log in? Maybe by running a logon
script...
Thank you in advance.

Samba 3 ldap password sync
Well, I seem to have gotten past the most difficult parts as far as Samba and LDAP
are concerned. I'm able to have a user log in to the domain, and get authenticated
via LDAP. The user can also change the LDAP password from the Windows screen
(control-alt-delete->change password). So most stuff as far as the windows domain
login appears.
My problem is this. Linux and other users need to

3.5p1 hpux 11.X .ssh/environment ignored
Am I missing something, or is this a bug? I'm using
OpenSSH 3.5p1 on (non-trusted) HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11,
compiled without pam support, but with the stock
sshd_config (in particular, with privsep), and sshd
ignores my client's ~/.ssh/environment file.
It worked fine under previous versions.
Thanks!

ReWind vs WINE vs WINEX
I have a question in that which is the best WINE to
use? Or what are the differences
wineX - This is the wine from Transgaming that the CVS
does not contain SafeDisc but the purchasable one
does?
rewind - This is the MIT/X licensed version
wine - This is the LGPL version from www.winehq.com
Right now I use "wine" and update from CVS from
winehq.com. So which is the best one to use as

24-bit support in winamp2 plugin
OK, I finally fixed the linear dithering code in the Winamp 2
plugin. I have not figured out all the whiz-bang GUI-based
configuration stuff yet so as it stands the plugin will play
back 24-bit FLAC files and dither them down to 16-bit. I
don't know how to check if the output module supports 24-bit
either, but you can recompile the plugin without the
#define FLAC__DO_DITHER to force it to do
