Moving to 3.0.1
We had 3.0.0 working nicely under OpenBSD 3.1. However, when we jumped to OpenBSD 3.4 a few weeks ago, we thought we would also move to 3.0.1. I get the same problems with 3.0.2rc2. There are 3 problems that appear to be BSD configuration issues, at least 1 of which has been raised before in an email on the technical list but seems to have reappeared. These are a) what appears to be

Compilation with Kerberos problem
I'm trying to compile Samba 3.0.4 with Active Directory support on OpenBSD 3.5, using the native Kerberos libraries (which happens to be Heimdal 0.6). Unfortunately, ./configure isn't working right. If anyone can help me figure out what the problem is, i would appreciate it. First a bit of info on OpenBSD's Kerberos path layout, in case it matters: /usr/libexec - daemons

Darwin Install
I am a Mac OS X.2 user and I'm not completely familiar with Darwin Unix but I have come upon a need to install Samba 3.0.4 on a PPC G4. I Have an install manual that came with Apple Developers package and I followed the directions. The manual told me to run this command: ./configure --with-syslog --prefix=/etc/samba \ --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/etc/samba

configure failed, with option --with-ads (samba3.0.2a)
I'm trying to do the same...join samba server to AD domain as domain member...and was able to pass this problem by compiling and installing openldap (configure --without-bdb --disable-bdb --enable-null --disable-slapd --disable-slurpd) and then compiled and installed MIT kerberos (configure --without-krb4 --enable-dns --enable-dns-for-kdc --enable-dns-for-realm) How far have you gotten now?

Is windbindd necessary?
Is it necessary? I am also confused as to what it does. If I disable it in the smb.conf file, I can not say I see any difference. I am running 6 XP pro clients, MDK 9.2 as the file server. ypwhich -m
Hi, I found that ypwhich -m does not work on 6.1-RC, it shows ypwhich: can't find the master of `?`: reason: No such map in server's domain IIRC, there was a commit last year to fix this. After some search, I think it is include/rpcsvc/yp_prot.h revision 1.13 done by peter@ (CC'ed). As far as I can tell, ypwhich -m is also broken on 5.4 and 5.5-PRERELEASE. I have tested that

Changing AD pasword
Running Samba3.0.2a in linux (Gentoo) security = ads Users are logging in fine (XP and W2K), using samba for file sharing and printing. We have (by corporate decree) a fairly short password life. When the password is about to expire the user is prompted to change it during their windows logon. I have seen mention of synchronizing the password with unix but no mention of pushing it back to the AD

openssh 4.3 on IRIX 5.3
Dear developers, OpenSSH 4.3 (both p1 and p2) has a number of issues on IRIX 5.3 which were not present with 4.2p1: configure thinks that a number of header files are unusable. This is because in order to use them other headers such as sys/types.h must be included as well, and configure's test code does not do so. checking ia.h usability... no checking ia.h presence... yes configure:
