RE: imap process abends
I am trying to setup dovecot imap on a test Solaris 8 box. I have dovecot
POP3S running fine on another box, but I want to switch to IMAP.
I see a successful login with a message like:
Mar 8 13:22:47 sws601.mcsun.local imap-login: [ID 457029 mail.info] Login:
sunuser1 [192.168.1.17]
Then the Mozilla Mail client gets a message that the server disconnected.
It appears to be from a segfault on

Double user name
I have two samba servers running Ubuntu 10.04 Samba Version 3.4.7
One server acts as domain controller and stores user ids in a .tdb
Somehow I've ended up with a duplicate user name.

Repost: System crash on loading gdm revisited
Hello -
I never heard back on this and continue to experience this bug.
Can someone help me to locate the patch for this so that I can
be sure it's included in my source?
It's not happening on every boot, but about every other or third.
And just as described in the bug report (the boot works OK, but
at the end rather than GDM starting nicely, I get a "fuzzy" screen

Transfer rate on NT/XP/2000 with service pack 6a
Hi SAMBA,
This is not quite a remark on SAMBA, more a report of a problem that is
not related to SAMBA. However it could be of concern to your developers
team.
At our company we recently (last week) installed two new fileservers.
The next thing we got was a very strange effect.
The configuration:
- Two fileservers, running (i believe) Windows 2000, with service pack
6A and included all service

Hi all:
I'm not sure where to begin.
My setup here is Samba Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix acting as wins
for a bridged OpenVPN network (if you know what that means).
The net consists of 1 subnet (10.0.0.0/24). The OpenVPN Linux box also
runs Samba, ip 10.0.0.110. There are 2 other windows/linux boxes
"behind" the VPN server.
There are "guests" (Road Warriors)

Samba 3 and CUPs printer causes explorer to abend
I am attempting to setup a Samba printserver to replace our Windows Print
servers.
I have defined a few printers in CUPS, some raw, and some not.
When I use the GUi to upload the drivers, The dialog works, however after
that is accomplished, any attempt to get the printer properties or to use
the printer from my W2K system (cpq0277) causes explorer to ABEND.
System setup:

System crash on loading gdm revisited
Hello -
I've been seeing system crashes similar to this
(http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1045) on my
Rocks head node. Instead of the standard kernel,
I've got a SNARE patched 2.6.9-34 kernel running.
Initially I'd used the RHEL kernel source to build
it (due to laziness ... it was easier to track down :-),
but have just rebuilt with the CentOS kernel source
and am now seeing these

ObjectPreviouslyDeleted when trying to paint
Hi,
I''m running into something along the lines of bug 5383. I''m hoping I''m
doing something obviously wrong and that someone can point me in the
right direction.
I''ve got a custom paint event handler:
def on_paint
puts "mainframe on_paint"
paint do |dc|
dc.clear
@cl.draw dc
end
end
Then I''ve got a key press

Changing kernel params in CentOS 4.2
Hello -
One of my users would like a kernel parameter changed. We're running
CentOS 4.2 so I'm not sure if we need to upgrade the kernel for this
change or not. He's seen that in the 2.6.11.12 kernel "PIPE_SIZE is
defined in include/linux/pipe_fs_i.h and takes on the value of PAGE_SIZE"
He wants PIPE_SIZE to be increased to 8*PAGE_SIZE.
Can this be changed in the 2.6.9

file access problems
we're testing a new NFS product for our mainframe system (Conectivitiy
Systems TCP/IP for VSE) and have successfully mapped a virtual drive to our
unix system (AIX 4.2). We use Samba (v.1.9.18p2) to share files with the
Windows 95 and Windows NT systems in the building. We have attempted to map
the "mapped" drive from the mainframe via Samba. We're able to see files in

Possible big/small endian problem Samba 2.2.2 and 2.2.3a
Hi
We are running Samba on an IBM zSeries mainframe on Linux kernel 2.2.16 and
are running
into problems when using winbindd and security=domain. We are doing a proof
of concept using
opensource and I really hope we can pull it off!
Before I raise a bug report, I would appreciate it if someone can tell me if
this is a known
problem. I have not found anything on it yet.
We have winbindd set up

Dear R users,
Based on a set of binomial sample data, how would you utilize the "nlm" function in R to estimate the true proportion of the population?
Thanks.

How to create EXT3 file system image from directories?
Hi there,
Is there a utility to create an EXT3 file system image from directories?
Just like the mkfs.jffs2 which creates a JFFS2 file system image from
directories?
The "mke2fs -j" only creates the bare bone file system, what I want is to
build an image with pre-built content.
Thanks,
Debbie

Problems with randomly generating samples
Dear R users,
Can anyone please tell me how to generate a large number of samples in R, given certain distribution and size.
For example, if I want to generate 1000 samples of size n=100, with a N(0,1) distribution, how should I proceed?
(Since I dont want to do "rnorm(100,0,1)" in R for 1000 times)
Thanks for help

Sorry, i think this number (diff2) occured due to jvm startup load ...
when doing repetive encoding the numbers are much closer to Marc's
minimum requirements (with Diff being the elapsed time for encoding on
