Converting ext3 to ext2
According to this: http://www.redhat.com/support/wpapers/redhat/ext3/why.html ext3 is forward and backward compatible with ext2... Any user who wishes to un-journal a file system can do so easily... I am assuming un-journalling is the equivalent of converting it to ext2. How do you do this? I haven't been able to find anything. The reason I want to do this is so I can modify my

On very different journalling activity on 2 servers.
Hello Folks, We have 2 (identical hardware) busy public 2U rack servers, both have several hundred users & peak email (for example) deliveries at 300/5min during the daytime. Both servers run RAID1 over 2 EIDE disk drives. One server is fine - it never has problems - it is running RH7.3 and CPU loads are normal. The other server has constant disk activity & kjournald at CPU load of

help with recovering inode
Hi list, here's what just happend: I rebooted my 2.4.15 running machine with SysRq + s u b to boot into 2.4.17pre8. All went fine, fsck found no errors. Upon starting X i found out that my .opera directory went fubar in some way. Stracing ls shows that it gets an EIO trying to stat it. Looking at it with debugfs (and learning fs internals on the fly) shows that inode of that directory only

ordered data mode?
I managed to install 0.5d today. Got all 3 of my mounts converted (even '/' though it was a pain in the ass). Now on boot, I see: mounted /dev/hda1 on / EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode and the exact same thing for /dev/hda3 and /dev/hdb1. they all come up and appear to be working. so is this normal? Or did I manage to screw up somewhere? -- Douglas J. Hunley (Linux User

ext3-2.4-0.9.4
An update to the ext3 filesystem for 2.4 kernels is available at http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/ The diffs are against linux-2.4.7 and linux-2.4.6-ac5. The changelog is there. One rarely-occurring but oopsable bug was fixed and several quite significant performance enhancements have been made. These are in addition to the performance fixes which went into 0.9.3. sync slowness. ext3 on VIA vt82c686b
When I copy a file(13Megs) from /home/ to /tmp/, sync takes almost 2 minutes. When I copy the same file to /usr/local/, sync returns almost right away. Both filesystems are ext3 and are on the same harddrive. When sync is running, the harddrive light stays on but I don't hear it doing anything. dmesg doesn't show any errors either. Below is the `time` output for each command. If you

lose focus event?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I''m new to wxruby, and I haven''t found any answer with google: Is there a way to capture a lose focus event on controls, such as a combo box? All my experiments show events when changing the text, but not when leaving the box. I want to make a combobox that autocompletes if I press tab (or down arrow or something), but if I

is EXT3 data=journal, 2K block size, 2.5 series kernel stable?
A while back, after 2.5.6, there were various changes made to the kernel that resulted in some instability with journaled data on ext3 filesystems, as well as small issues with my 2k block size file systems. Can someone (say, Andrew Morton ;) comment on the stability of the current release with this sort of configuration? If it's not full of known bugs then I will give it another shot, but I

problem using ext3 on root fs
Hi, I just converted all my hard disk filesystems from ext2 to ext3. This worked perfectly fine for all non-root fs, but I am having trouble converting the root fs, too. Here's what I did: 1. rebuilt my kernel (2.4.20, x86) with ext3 support linked in statically - no module. 2. Added a journal file to my root fs using 'tune2fs -j'. 3. Added 'rootfstype=ext3' to the

RCMD for Windows
Trying to use rcmd in our Windows environment to launch tasks on remote servers. We are using the job scheduler from Tidal corporation. The problem is the return code that's coming back to the job scheduler,Tidal, is from the RCMD NOT from the tasks that it launched. We need to get the return code from the task that was launched via rcmd. Help Lou Zollo Production Control Manager

[Bridge] Update OSDL/Linux-Foundation maintainer addresses
Hi, I'm not sure if this is apprriate or not, but here goes anyway. The patch below updates MAINTAIER address Individuals (Only Andrew :): osdl.org -> linux-foundation.org Lists: osdl.org -> lists.osdl.org I assume the latter will change at some stage, but at least with this change the osdl/linux-foundation lists are consistent.
