Sambe max file size on RH9
I'm getting a "max file size exceeded" when copying from knoppix 3.3. to RH9 over a samba share when the file gets to be >2G in size. This is samba 3.0.2a on server, 3.0.2-Debian on client. I googled a bit, and the more recent one (2003) directed the user to get a build that was built on their Linux 2.4 system. I installed from an RPM I downloaded for RH9 (3.0.2a), I

Patching XP clients on Samba PDC
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, Does anyone have a good suggestion for patching XP clients on a Samba PDC domain? I've tried using autoit and sysinternal's psexec to write a script to do this but this doesn't work well because the computer has to be active and our machines lock the machine if it's not active in 15 minutes. I hate having to log onto every

Security warning with XP clients and 3.0.2a PDC
Hi all, I hope I don't make a prat of myself with my first posting... I've got a 'niggle' with Windows XP Pro (SP1a) clients and 3.0.2a PDC (Slackware 9.1, 2.4.22). Joing a domain, logging on etc is working perfectly but I'm getting a 'File Download' security warning when I try and open an executable that's stored on the server. If I agree to open the file it

Getting identify() to work with lattice::cloud()
I don't seem to be able to put any syntax into identify() that gets it to work with "lattice" cloud() graph: layout(1) require('lattice') cloud(g3 ~ g1 + g2, data=gapp, col = "blue", xlab='G1 Score', ylab='G2 Score', zlab='G3 Score', main='3D Plot for Applicants') identify(gapp[,2:4], labels=gapp$ID) Here g1 is gapp[,2], g2

Huge delays on login/first access from WinXP clients on samba 3.0.4 PDC
Hi *, after upgrade from 2.2.8a to 3.0.4, I'm suffering from ~10 min. delays on login/first access of a share from a WinXPpro client to a samba 3.0.4 PDC (SuSE 9.0). Remote Downlevel Document Hangs in XP Pro Print Queue
I used SAMBA, CUPS, hplip, and linuxprinting.org documentation to made all configuration changes necessary to successfully print from FC3 print server using samba-3.0.10-1.fc3 for a HP PSC 1350 SAMBA windoww share on a XPPro SP2 PC. I created the FC3 print queue using the CUPS web interface->Device=Windows Printer via

Duplicate name error when joining XP to Samba domain
Hi, I'm having problems trying to join my XPpro boxes to a Samba (2.2.7a) domain. I was able to get 1 XP box to join (the very first one) but the rest complain about a duplicate name on the network just after I enter the root/pw when joining the domain. None of the smb user names are in common with the machine names. The NT4 workstations have no problem joining the samba domain. All

Joining XPPro failed
I've installed Samba [samba-3.0.10-1.fc2.i386] with ldap backend and using smbldap-tools. Following the instructions of The Linux Samba-OpenLDAP Howto (Revision 1_10 ) and Smbldap-tools User Manual (Release 0_8_7 ) from IDEALX. When I am joining XPPro SP2, I got the Access Denied message. I was doing it as Administrator of the domain that has uid=0. Should I do this as root, so I have to

Erratic behavior when Windows XP clients attempt to login to PDC
I have noticed while testing my Samba 3.0.2a primary and backup domain controllers with Windows XP clients, that when I attempt to login to the Samba PDC, the XP client will sometimes randomly choose the backup domain controller. I only want the client to join the backup domain controller when the PDC is offline. I am not experiencing any random network outages or DNS failures so I am bewildered

Join 2012 Server R2 as member to NT domain
Is it still possible to join a Windows 2012 Server R2 system as a member to a 'pre-NT5' Samba (3.6.23) domain controller? The Windows 'Domain Change' GUI errors immediately after failing the SRV lookup for the AD server. Even with the SRV record in place, the GUI fails trying to connect to the non-existent LDAP port. Netdom on the command line tries to work if the DC name

%U doesn't replaced in smb.conf
Hi! :o) I've got an Debian linux running on an Alpha machine.I had a Celeron II before, with Samba 2.2.6. I've made the change to Samba 3.0.0 and then I've just upgraded to 3.0.2a tonight. In the old smb.conf I've had a line "include = /etc/samba/configs/%U.conf" that was good in the old state, but with the new it doesn't work. I find out that the samba does not

Windows XP suddenly can't login to PDC
Hi, I've got a Samba 3.0.2a PDC running for some time now (like more than a year) with MS Windows XP clients. But suddenly on January 23 2006 none of the clients where able to login anymore. The error on the client was (translated from dutch): Unable to connect to domain server. The logfile on the samba side showed: [2006/01/23 11:36:30, 2] lib/smbldap.c:smbldap_open_connection(722)

xp clients can't auth after reboot without smb restart
I currently have several fresh installs of XP that will connect to shares, but will not reconnect after a workstation reboot. These are workstations that are not joined to the domain. Only accessing shares from a local profile, but using the same user/pass to login as to connect to Samba. I get various errors at that point. Upon reboot, attempting to access the share generates: "An error

[I didn't see any replies to my 12/27 post... so reposting it] One day samba was working fine, the next it wasn't. I didn't change anything on either the Fedora Core 6 machine (relay) nor the XP Pro machine (oob2). I'm running Samba 3.0.23c on a fully patched FC6 x86 box. I followed all the steps in "Procedure 38.1. Diagnosing Your Samba Server", and until I got to

Removing display of domain
Greetings. I am running Samba 3.0.23d on Gentoo and am in the process of joining it to the AD domain as I have done with numerous other servers. The last item that I am working on that is bugging the crud out of me is that I have "winbind use default domain = yes", but when using wbinfo -[u|g] or getent [passwd|group] I still see the domain portion of the user/group account listed.
