Using HP deskjet 930c on USB
Samba version: 2.2.7a

Hello - I have had a good look on this newsgroup - and what I've picked up I
think is allowing me to ask
these questions more intelligently. I've also had a good look at the CUPS
documentation aswell as the
Samba documentation.

Error Printing Using Samba
Although I can print locally on a linux machine running samba-3.4.5, cups-1.4.1, hplip-3.9.12 without errors, when any windows machines try to print to a printer connected to the Linux machine, the job prints, but gives the following error:
"/usr/local/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster failed"
..and the job remains in the print queue on both the local and remote machines. This error occurs

cups drivers for printing pdf and tif
List,
I updated a gateway/router computer with Centos 5.6 and lost the ability
to print pdf and tif files with the command "lp -d printer img.tif"
This new unit replaced a Fedora 5 system that had been working well, and
is still able to print pdf and tif files withing the same network.
I have other Centos 5.6 gateway's at different facilities that print the
pdf and tif files

Recent problems printing to HP 7310 port 9100
I have been printing to this printer for years it seems.
Recently, printing from Firefox would hang in the print que, but other
prints would go behind the hung job. Deleting the hung print job would
not seem to change the que until I rebooted.
Now I have an OpenOffice job stuck as well.
I am using the recommended hpijs device driver. Any ideas what may be
wrong here?
I am going to have to

Shared printing between Linux (client) and Windows (server): NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Applied the update:
$ sudo samba --version
Version 4.9.5-Debian
The results of `posix_open' and `queue' cmds stay the same. Printer is
idle on print cmd.
A GUI problem with endless authentication request was shot down:
1. Delete the printer
2. Add a new one
3. Network Printer -> Search -> 192.168.0.100 -> Authorization Reqired:

HPLIP
First, has anyone successfully installed the HPLIP driver from HP in
CentOS4?
Second, does that driver really provide the toolbox which includes handy
stuff like ink level monitoring?
I got the source RPM (hplip-0.9.4-1.1.src.rpm) from an FC4 testing
mirror, which rebuilt fine on this machine:

Slow windows -> cups print - CONCLUSION
Hi list,
I've just figured it out.
When we're installing the drivers from adobe there's a part where we must
"Select the Printer Model". By default it uses the "Generic Postscript Printer"
(it has an associated PPD for that). We must get a PPD for our printer
(installed on the linux server) from the www.linuxprinting.org, click the
"Browse" button and

Odd tdb cups/samba Printing Problem
Hello,
I am running SuSE 8.1 (2.4.19) with an installation of Samba 2.2.5 with Cups 1.1.15 from the distro CD's. I'm having a strange problem when printing from a Windows 2000 laptop to the printer (HP882c using hpijs) connected to the SuSE samba box via USB. Printing starts and usually works for a little while, but after a few minutes/pages printing stops, usually in the middle of

Why are hplip and hpijs always so back dated?
My fully patched CentOS 6.5 system uses:
hplip-common-3.12.4-4.el6_4.1.i686
hpijs-3.12.4-4.el6_4.1.i686
hplip-libs-3.12.4-4.el6_4.1.i686
My wife's printer becomes supported at 3.13.somethingOrOther
and the current release is 3.14.something.
Why are we so far behind?
I realize that I can download the latest, uninstall the RPM versions
and compile and build and install the source copy. If I
