access 2003 clients can't print to samba 3 server (access 2000 can)
Has anyone else heard of or had any issues printing with Access 2003 to
samba servers? Other office 2003 products print fine, and Access 2000
worked, but Access 2003 will not print to a samba server here. In order
to get access 2003 to print, I have to change default printer to
something on a windows server, and then it works?
Anybody heard/seen anything?
Thanks,
~ Daniel

The credentials conflict with an existing set of credentials
Hi all.
Today my samba server, which has been working fine for quite some time,
is not allowing me to mount shares on it.
In Windows, I get the error:

Installing MS Office problems
Greetings.
I'm trying to install MS Office ( 2002 ) using wine-0.9.40. I have
followed various HOWTOs floating around, including using ies4linux to
pull IE and related stuff. I'm stuck on:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5163
Are there any known work-arounds?

Access 2003 printing?
Has anybody found a fix for the Access 2003 printing? I've got a
couple of work arounds but neither is a good long term solution.
1) Set the default printer to something other then a Samba print queue.
2) Map the Samba print queue to a dos LPT port.
Thanks,
Derek

samba & MS Access problems
Hi, I'm having an odd behaviour with a samba file server (3.0.14a) on
ubuntu 5.10 breezy an MS access files. When a user open an mdb file,
this file can't be opened by anyone else by doubleclicking on it,
(simply nothing happens), BUT if I open Ms Access and then open the file
manually from there, there is no problem.
I'v tried on Windows XP shares and this is not happening. I'v

Sharing a USB Printer
We're trying to share an Epson USB inkjet printer via Samba 3.0.2-7 on our new
Fedora server.
The share is set up OK, and can be seen and opened from Windows clients. However,
although the Fedora box can print to the Epson, the Windows boxes can't.
All other Samba shares, including a laser printer connected to the parallel port,
work fine.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?

Domain authentication not working
Hi all.
I'm trying to share a printer out via samba, and it's suddenly stopped
working. Samba says it's connecting to the DC, but then returning
NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER. It wasn't doing this earlier today. I haven't
changed anything in the top half of the smb.conf file ... only the
print-related stuff. Any ideas?
The log is saying:

Aggragating subsets of data in larger vector with sapply
Have 40,000 rows of buy/sell trade data and am trying to add up the buys for
each second, the code works but it is very slow. Any suggestions how to
improve the sapply function ?
secEP = endpoints(xSym$Direction, "secs") # vector of last second on an XTS
timeseries object with multiple entries for each second.
d = xSym$Direction
s = xSym$Size
buySize = sapply(1:(length(secEP)-1),

A few issues with samba & cups
Hi all.
I have Samba-3.0.1 sharing 2 printers via the 'share all printers'
feature - the printers are an HP 4500 colour laser, and a Ricoh Aficio
AP3200 ( accepting jobs like a network HP does ).
I followed the instructions on the CUPS website for sharing printers
with the CUPS windows driver, using their 'cupsaddsmb' script, which
basically takes your existing ppd file, and

"net rpc vampire" case sensitivity problem
We just migrated a small network from a Win2K PDC to Samba, using
"net rpc vampire" into a tdbsam backend on a Samba 3.0.2a Linux box.
One of the users, let's call him Jon Harker, had the NT username "JHarker".
When we ran "pdbedit -v jharker", we saw this:
Unix username: JHarker
NT username: JHarker
Well, that looks wrong - the NT

Trying to install Mailcrypt, receive completely blank emails
Hi - perhaps someone can help me.
Starting from a good and well-functioning mailserver setup, I have installed
MailCrypt as per the instructions (I think) to have the per-user passworded
keys setup.

MailCrypt: Encrypted user keys configuration with LDAP & cryptokey generate
Hi, I try to use the MailCrypt plugin with Floder encryption and
encrypted user keys, using LDAP. I use Dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0)
I follow the wiki: https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailCrypt
doveconf -n and dovecot-ldap.conf.ext attached to this message.
I well configured slapd to let dovecot's dn query the userPassword
(hashed password SSHA). I use fusiondirectory-mail plugin:

Hai,
Do you have advice about Dovecot plugins for mail encryption:
https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailCrypt
https://0xacab.org/riseuplabs/trees
I like NaCL based encryption but the MailCrypt plugin is better
because it's maintained by Dovecot developers (is this correct?)
Hard to understand MailCrypt docs so may I ask, may I provide per user
encryption? I don't like global

Decryption method for Maildir messages stored by mail_crypt plugin
I've successfully implemented the mail_crypt plugin on v2.2.27 and it's
working like a champ, but some of our administrative operations require
access to Maildir messages in plaintext.
I've found numerous threads detailing help with mail_crypt setup, but none
of my research has yielded a method of decrypting the stored messages.
Relevant plugin config:

mailbox encryption
Hello,
Thanks, I think I have it. The message files the u5 and u6 files are
showing up as data, and they sure look encrypted to me.
One thing is there a way to get logging of output of the mail_crypt
module? What I'm wanting to have if possible is a user gets a message,
the logs show message being encrypted, then stored to disk?
Thanks.
Dave.

Disable IMAP for certain users, but not Webmailer
Hi everybody,
I'm planning to set up our new mail system using the Dovecot mailbox
server. It mostly works fine yet (it's quite straigt forward to set up,
I'd say), but there's a thing I haven't been able to find out yet. We
provide POP3 access for all users, but want to restrict IMAP access to
some of them (because IMAP users tend to leave more messages on the
server, thus
