Invisible samba server
Hi,
My samba server "linux-1" (samba-3.0.2-7.FC1) has suddenly become
invisible from all windows client. The samba server is a member of the
"RASKNO" workgroup and was visible when browsing the workgroup from
windows clients a few weeks ago.
The weird thing is that it is now invisible. The only changes has been
regular updates of FC1.
The symptoms is that I can search for

[PATCH] getpwnam() implementation in tftpd.c
Hi,
This patch implements a minimal getpwnam() function in tftpd.c.
The reason for the patch is that I needed tftpd to work in my embedded
system, which are without libnss*. The patch has been tested, and works
for me. Please consider it.
Best regards,
jules

DNS caching is not working on CentOS
Hi All:
For whatever reason I can not get dns caching to work on any of my
centos boxes. Running Centos 5 and 6. Any thoughts on why these will
not run? The services start fine but when telling to perform a dig
using itself as the resolver the queries fail (See below).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

ZFS upgrade.
Hello,
Is there a way to upgrade my current ZFS version. I show the version could
be as high as 22.
I tried the command below. It seems that you can only upgrade by upgrade
the OS release.
[ilmcoso0vs056:root] / # zpool upgrade -V 16 tank
invalid version ''16''
usage:
upgrade
upgrade -v
upgrade [-V version] <-a | pool ...>

Disk Size Issue
I am sure this is not a problem, but more of a "can we do this" question. We
are using Samba Version 2.0.6 and my problem is this:
We have one Samba server for a site, we NFS mount filesystems from various other
machines to the Samba server, we then create a directory on the Samba server and
then create links under that directory to each of the mounted filesystems we
want to share.

hey centos
long time no hear! :) I'm having a small issue where the backup jobs
that I set to run in the crontab of the backup user do not appear to
be running. Here's how I set it up (with crontab -e as the backup

run amanda every night (check at 2:45 and backup at 3)

anacron-2.3-45.el5.centos
crontabs-1.10-8
I have tried yum update crontabs, and then it said there

Cron sending to root after changing MAILTO
Well, I feel silly.? There are three places MAILTO can affect crond: /etc/crontab, /etc/crond.d/0hourly, and /etc/anacrontab.? Once I set this in these 3 files, I started getting mail from crond.? Thank you all for your help.

crontab problems
Did you restart the crontab service after the change ?
If not, crontab wont be aware of the changes.

Bug with OpenSSH and Crontab under Solaris 8
Hi,
I have a issue with OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 and crontab (solaris 8). The crontab
will not execute correctly the commands if I edit it by using OpenSSH.
client (Solaris 8 / Openssh 3.7.1p2) ---> server (Solaris 8 / Openssh
3.7.1p2).
Next, I edit the crontab with "vi" using a console session and I save it
without doing modification. The crontab works perfectly now ! ?

Backup to spare drive (rsync / crontab)
I am using rsync and crontab to perform scheduled backups on FreeBSD AMD64 Rel. 7.0
I am following process described here for rsync :

I have a backup script's created for daily, weekly, monthly.
This is one example - the daily (/backup is a seperate physical drive) :
