sw-raid1+ ext3 - can't fsck on boot?
Hi there, I'm running software raid 1 across two 60GB IDE drives and booting off the raid device. The raid device holds an ext3 filesystem. Each drive is configured as a master on its own bus. The system is redhat 7.2, stock kernel 2.4.9-31smp. The hardware platform is a Dell precision dual 2Ghz P4 system with 1G of memory. I have two of these systems, both configured identitically.

[Flac-users] Problems with configure
I compiled flac today and at first I didn't succeed very well. The binary was built and all, but each time I tried encode a wav-file, the only result was: > flac 1.0.4, Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002 Josh Coalson > flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. fixed effect significance_NB mixed models_further pursuit
7 Jan 09 Hello, I am using R version 2.7.0 in a Windows XP context. I am also using the glmm.admb package (created by Dave Fournier, Hans Skaug, and Anders Nielson) to run mixed-effects negative binomial models. To the best of my knowledge and ability, I have searched and studied the R-help, R-sig-mixed models, and ADMB NBMM for R (through Otter Research Ltd) list servs; R help

Data type question: converting dates
I have a text (csv) file) with two columns: dates and numeric measurements. I read it using read.table and the dates get read as a factor, with as many levels as there are dates in the data. How can I create a matrix-like data structure (data frame?) which has one column of “real” dates (a vector of dates, not a factor variable) and one column of the numeric measurements? The strptime function

Netgear FA312 Wake-on-Lan problem
I have just noticed what appears to be a problem with my CentOS 3.7 servers shutting down. I have Netgear FA312 NICs in some of my DELL PowerEdge 700 servers and this particular NIC has WOL ability. I cannot turn this off in the BIOS or limit the error responses. When I do a "halt", the server goes only as far as closing the ethernet card and stops, resulting in a hardboot being

PDF viewer?
Hi, I'm looking for a usable PDF viewer with CentOS 4.3. On my previous install (Slack running XFCE with a handful of GNOME libs), I used Evince, which is just great. Looks like this is an Achilles' heel in CentOS, as I tested three available PDF viewers (ggv, gsview, acroread) with various PDF documents downloaded from the internet (which all display perfectly with Evince): either the

fsck and guest images
Hey! I have some RHEL6 hypervisors and the VMs are in raw qemu image files in a local raid array linux raid + lvm + ext3. When a kernel update is installed a reboot is necessary, usually it has been more than 180 days since the last reboot and the file system is fsck'd and this takes 2-3 hours. I am curious to know if there is any documentation that addresses the pro's and con's of

Check journal is replayable ?
Hello. Is there a simple way, at a shell script level, of finding out whether an ext3 fs has a sane journal, other than mounting it or running a full fsck ? I may quite well be missing a few things here, but what I think I'd like is some option extra to e2fsck that says "if this is a journalled filesystem, and it was shut down uncleanly, just replay the journal and check for immediately

How to stagger fsck executions
CentOS 6 Hi All: Over the weekend I had to reboot one of my systems and got hit with fsck runs on all of the filesystems. I would not mind so much except doing them all at once took over an hour. I would like to be able to stagger these, ideally only execute one fsck per reboot. I have been able to think of two possible solutions but neither is terrific. My first idea was to manually run fsck

Compiling Asterisk with G.723.1
Hello, I am relatively new to Asterisk and I need to compile the G.723.1 codec for Asterisk. I downloaded the ITU source code, placed it in the codecs directory, but apparently Asterisk needs a rather different library than the one provided from ITU. As I've seen in the mailing list archives, there are quite a few users who were able to compile G.723.1 in *, so, could someone kindly share it
