XP gives Access denied for domain logon
Samba 3.0.2a-Debian
I have a somewhat working PDC server, but have some difficulties adding
more users. I managed to create a user, anna, a couple of days ago, it
she works fine from my wireless laptop.
To sort out some problems I have with the logon.bat script [see
sambalist "Netlogon script executes randomly"], I am also including my
desktop computer to the domain.

XP gives Access denied for domain logon - solved, but with new problem
I found the solution to the Access Denied errormessage.
When I change my computer from workgroup to domain I have to use user
root when giving username and password. I used frode, a non priviliged
user, and that?s why it failed.
I still have another problem though. When I try to log on with user anna
on my laptop it works fine, but if I try user anna on my stationary, or
user frode on either

Machine freeze
Hi all,
we are running CentOS 5.2 Xen virtualization system with the latest CentOS packages with couple of VMs on DELL PowerEdge. "Sometimes" the whole machine freezes without anything in log files, anything on the console. "Sometimes" really means we cannot define why or when. Sometimes the machine was idle with just one VM, sometimes quite busy with couple of

Help using --exclude
I'm running rsync v2.5.5 on FreeBSD 4.6.2-RELEASE.
I'm using rsync to mirror the home directories of user's desktop
machines. I would like to
exclude the cache of browsers such as mozilla or netscape.
Unfortunately I have not been
able to find the right syntax for the --exclude option. I hope someone
can give me some
insight.
The command I'm using is:

Netlogon script executes randomly
Hi, I have set up Samba 3.0.2a on my Debian server as a PDC.
I use a Windows XP Pro laptop to log on wirelessly, and things seems to
be working fine except with the logon.bat script.
I have added "logon script = logon.bat" and the netlogon share in my
smb.conf.
The logon.bat has executed a few times (perhaps 10% of the times), but
there is obviously a problem. The logon.bat is

NT logon ok but XP logon very slow
Hi,
Our environment: HP-UX 11.00 server / Samba 3.0.21a as PDC / OpenLDAP backend
We're developping a migration from AS/U to a Samba PDC.
Currently we have following problem: logging onto an NT4 workstation
is almost instantaneous, but when logging onto an XP workstation, this
happens:
(1) We type the user and password in Windows logon.
(2) Windows logon immediately accepts user and

3.0 beta 3 - NT and Unix group mapping
Hello everyone!
I've been testing the 3.0 beta 3 (I've just upgraded from 2.2.7), and made a
PDC configuration with Windows XP Pro clients. Everything works fine,
however, I'm fine tuning the NT and Unix group mapping; in particular, I
want to map the Unix group 'users' to the NT group 'Power Users'.
I've tried:
net groupmap modify ntgroup="Power Users"

LDAP different Group SID -- not supported for NETLOGON calls
Hello list,
I have two Samba-LDAP DC's each in different networks, domain AMECC_SAL
(192.168.40.0/24) and domain AMECC_GUA (192.168.42./24). I have
established a inter-domain trust relationship in both directions. My
problem comes when I try to log into a machine in the AMECC_SAL domain
using any user from the AMECC_GUA domain. The machine?s name in which I
want to sign in is cc03.

User Group SID behavior has changed from 21b to 23c
I am using LDAP as my backend. I have 6 PDC's running Samba 3.0.21b,
each domain has a different SID. I store all user, groups, and machine
accounts in one LDAP database. So that when I create a user once, all
domains can see the user. This keeps me from having to create a user
account on each domain for cross domain file sharing.
The behavior for Domains running Samba 3.0.21b is a follows.
