mapping well known groups problem (net groupmap)
Hi
I have samba 3.0.14a (debian/stable) and wonder where the problem is
that running this command:
# net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=ntadmins rid=512
type=d
gives:
adding entry for group Domain Admins failed!
but (note changed rid)
# net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=ntadmins rid=1000
type=d
works fine.
Hm, winbind is not working, but I

mapping multiple groups with: net groupmap?
Sorry if this is obvious but I'm not up to speed yet
with Samba 3.
Google turned up this command:
net groupmap modify ntgroups="Domain users" unixgroup=users
which would be all fine and dandy if everybody was in the
same primary group, which they are not, since it completely defeats
the purpose of having groups in the first place.
On my system we currently have 87 groups (one

Help with "net groupmap", users of groups don't have permits
In a Sarge Kernel 2,6 running Samba 3 as PDC security=user, I turned with "net groupmap modify..." the English language of the names of the groups of dominio NT to the Spanish, so these are compatible with the Spanish version of each W9x.
Everything it did without problems with script downloaded from Internet. But in the list of users and groups of the window "Share..." in

Hi,
I think at first you have to do a net groupmap add all the well known Groups.

Net groupmap list strange result
Hi, i'm running the samba as "classic primary domain controller" in my lab
test.
In my lab tests, at first everything seems to be working properly.
1. I set the Samba4 as "classic primary domain controller." *smb.conf in
the pastebin link*.
2. I set up an external ldap, with the equal ldif base what we have in
production here on campus.
3. I set up an bind9 as DNS server.

Net groupmap list strange result
No stupid question. For me there is not. Better to ask than to stay with
the doubt.
I believe that had not used this command, but now I have.
But I am still with the error:
"Error while trying to join domain" poa "Logon failure: unknown user name
or bad password."
About the results of the command "net groupmap list", you would have any
tips on how I can solve this

Time to straighten out groupmap
I need to clean up the groupmap setup - samba 3.0.0 / ldapsam
Although I'm spitting out a fair amount of information, I'm going to
concentrate on the Administrators entry which appears twice, this
doesn't seem good...

trouble with groupmap
Samba Version 3.0.9-1.3E.2 installed on Vanilla installation of CentOS
Users who log in are unable to install printers via a script like they
do in all of our other domains. The drivers have been installed properly
an rpcclient enumdrivers confirms this. When the user logs in, they are
assigned guest privileges, and I believe that this is what's preventing
the print install.

I'm having problems removing entries using net groupmap. When I use net
groupmap ntgroup="Domain Guests" I see a message saying it has been

have multiple Domain Guests with the same sid. Can someone please tell me
how to remove duplicates?. I've also tried net groupmap delete

Unable to get groupmap to work with LDAP
I believe I have everything setup correctly on my RH9 server running Samba
3.0.3.rc1 and openLDAP 2.1.22. I can join computers to the domain and
authenticate to the domain without any problems. What I am having problems
with is trying to do a group map so Domain Admins have administrative rights
on the workstation when they login. I can get this to work on non LDAP
setups by issuing net

Net groupmap fails
I have yet to get group mapping to work in samba 3.0. Getting very
frustrated.
I'm using openldap 2.1.23 as the backend database for samba 3.0.0. I've
added the base domain groups as posixAccounts to the LDAP database using
smbldap-populate.pl.
