Samba + OpenLdap replication problem
Hi all, not sure if I can ask here, because this sounds to me more an OpenLdap than a Samba problem, but it involves samba too. I've got a domain controller based on Fedora 2, samba 3.0.7-2.FC2 and openldap-2.1.29-1, which serves 60 users in a domain. Now I'm trying to set up a backup domain controller, based on the same software, on another machine. I stop Openldap on the master, dump

CentOS 7, samba-4.4.4-14.el7_3 and openldap-2.4.40-13.el7 -- file permissions?
I am setting up Samba on a standalone CentOS 7 server (using LDAP with openldap for authentifcation) and things and somewhat working. There is a bit of weirdness though. smbclient is only able to access *directories* and not any of the files. Why is that? What am I missing? Here is a log of a test run: [heller at c764guest: ~]$ ls -lZAn total 8424 -rw-------. 1

OpenLDAP migration from Centos 5 to 6
I'm moving my home network server from a Dell server, which has been having some mysterious problems, to an HP MicroServer. Everything - MySQL, OpenVPN, email (dovecot), httpd, etc - except for openLDAP, which is taking more time than everything else put together. I haven't found any straightforward instructions on this anywhere. The official RedHat document

migrate openldap to centos 7 server..
I hope this isnt terribly off-topic, but Im trying to migrate openldap from an old 32bit install of gentoo linux to 64bit centos 7. Ive searched and found all kinds of info on migrating, but none if it seems to work completely for me. It seems that the newer centos 7 opendlap config doesnt use the slapd.conf file any more. So It appears I need two ldif files. one for the config and one for the

trouble with ldap authentication on centos+openldap
Hi Samba List, I've been trying to get a samba+ldap working on centos 6.3. I've had some troubles adapting to the new slapd.d configuration format for the openldap, which seems unnecassarily complicated. Most of the tutorials refer to the older style slapd.conf configuration. I was following this tutorial:

Samba standalone + openldap
Hi everybody, I'm new to this mailing list, i need help about a configuration with Samba / Openldap. I have a samba server with shared folders, where users authenticate with a determined login/password. I would like to use my directory (openldap) to authenticate my users to access the shared folders. I do not want to use samba as a domain controller, just to authenticate the users with

samba4 + openldap: provisioning isnt working
Wiki seems to be out of date here. The wiki reference's [1] [2] a "setup/provision-backend" script, as well as a "setup/provision" script, yet current git only has a setup/provision executable. Some #samba and #openldap IRC advice was that provision-backend wasnt needed anymore, but based off the errors i'm seeing, there's definitely _something_ missing, I just

Centos 7.1 openldap-2.4.39 question
I have two instances of an openldap-2.4.39 server running with syncrepl in a master-master replication setup. These are Centos 7.1 test servers which have been running for over 2 months now with no problems. Partly the good behavior of the LDAP servers is due to very little exercise. Yesterday I decided to try and see exactly how well replication was working. With server-2 up and running I

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
Rowland, The *openldap* will be the same that is already working on our campus (technological courses). I have samba3 on a freebsd, but the samba4 I will switch to Debian. I believe that in addition to the *smb.conf*, I have to also copy the following folders: */etc/samba/* */var/lib/samba/* Proceeds? Samba + LDAP problem...
Ok, after three more days of pulling my hair out, I'm still stuck. I've got what I think is the problem, but I'm sure how to fix it. I'm building a Samba PDC using the IDEALX.org HOWTO. I'm using samba 2.2.7 and openldap 2.0.27 that I compiled from the Red Hat Network. This is being built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 2.1. Ok, So I get to the part of the HOWTO that

OpenLDAP to FDS 7.1
I am intending to test FDS 7.1 for our LDAP database. We have a custom schema currently set up with OpenLDAP. I am looking for a script ton convert those schema files to the FDS LDIF format. I could have sworn someone posted a link in the previous LDAP thread, but I can't find it now. If anyone has that script, I would appreciate a pointer. Thanks, Bowie

( have setup a samba 2.2.8a with openldap 2.0.27 as a PDC in the past) I've read up on a few pages about some of the reqs that are needed: http://www.unav.es/cti/ldap-smb/smb-ldap-3-howto.html I've followed the Samba How-To as well. I edited my slapd.conf file and added the correct
