you what I'm working with.

Upgrading LDAP entries from 2.2.7 for Samba 3 not happening
We have been using samba 2.2.7 for awhile now with ldap no problem. We are
ready to move to Samba 3 though, and this is where the trouble begins.
We do not have a domain set up. We have a few samba boxes and they just use
the ldap servers to get their passwords from. (no roaming desktops or
anything like that.)
I did a bit of reading up and see that I need to run the convertSambaAccount
script

Can't set SeDiskOperatorPrivilege to Domain Admins. (NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER) Error.
Hai,
I've just read you howto, and its a very good start point.
You may have to correct a few small things there, but imo pretty good yes.
This :
> chown root."domain admins" /SHAREPATH
Is/should not needed.
setacl -m g:"domain admins":rwx,g:"domain users":rx /SHARELOCALPATH
^^^^^^ you did mean setfacl ?
But same, yes it works, and better then above, but

Can't set SeDiskOperatorPrivilege to Domain Admins. (NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER) Error.
We’ve just recently moved over to Samba 4. It looks as if “force directory
security mode” doesn’t work in samba 4. So I’m trying to setup the Windows
ACLs on our groups share.
I’ve been working on this for a few days. I’ve read over the docs, it seems
like all the google links are purple and I’m still stuck. Hopefully someone
here will have an idea.
We’re running Windows 2008R2 for our AD

Can't set SeDiskOperatorPrivilege to Domain Admins. (NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER) Error.
Thanks for everyone chiming in on my problem. I really do appreciate it.
Just to clarify, I’m working on a share called Edwards_Public. I’m trying
to get it so the members of the AD group called do_superintendent are the
only people able to read and write any files in that directory.
Here is my global config:
workgroup = NSD
client signing = yes
client use spnego = yes
kerberos method = secrets

for this process is "root", that is correct. The PID 7247 is one of the
users, but the UID shouldn't be "root" and should be the username that was
authenticated during logon.
Anyone have same or similar problem? and how do I prevent this problem
from happening again? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Can't set SeDiskOperatorPrivilege to Domain Admins. (NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER) Error.
Why not set your permissions from the windows server via security tab on
folder properties?
I set up mine the following way:
smb.conf allows domain admins and domain users full RWX access to share
(actual access controlled via ACLs)
share perms on linux box
chown root."domain admins" /SHAREPATH
setacl -m g:"domain admins":rwx,g:"domain users":rx /SHARELOCALPATH

A Couple of Questions
Hi All,
I have been using Ruby and Rails for only a few short days and I am
loving it so far. I have a couple of questions relating to a specific
project I am working.
1. I am wondering about sessions expiring after a set period of in
activity and what would be the easiest way to set it up.
2. I would like to be able to users on the system. Each of these users
has a login of there own. Each

Samba 4.1.8 Importing automountmap ldif entries from existing OpenLDAP setup or ?
So, I have a test domain set up with rfc2307 = yes .
Now I'm trying to figure out if a) my nfs automount data came over from OpenLDAP, and b) if not, how to get it into samba 4's ldap, or something else??? Do I need to rethink my approach?
Mount locations are pretty consistent based on primary group/userid
Needs to work on Linux.
Existing entries look like this...

Speaking of sessions
Hi All,
I am trying to figure out some models and controller for a time tracking
system. More specifically I am trying to figure out the best way to
track how long a user was logged in for a given day week or month. I was
thinking from a database standpoint of having a created_ and and
updated_at in a session table and then I would find out the hours and
minutes that a user was logged in for

Replication issue
I have a server that is not replicating correctly, but passes all the tests listed here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC
In particular running
# host -t CNAME 976c9c86-288d-483e-baec-7043a9c4a6cd._msdcs.ncs.k12.de.us
976c9c86-288d-483e-baec-7043a9c4a6cd._msdcs.ncs.k12.de.us is an alias for ncssamba2.ncs.k12.de.us.
returns correct information on all DCs.

issue with multiple Samba DC and uid/gid assignment.
I have 2 Ubuntu 12.04/samba 4 servers acting as DCs for my Domain. I provisioned the Domain by using the classicupgrade (prior authentication was LDAP+Samba). I have added some new test users. I also have two files servers. One is running RHEL 5.9/Samba 3, the other Ubuntu 12.04/Samba 4. Users that have their home directories and profiles stored on the RHEL5.9/Samba 3 fileserver work correctly.

DNS issue with second samba DC
I have samba4 installed on two systems: ncssamba1 and ncssamba2. ncssamba1 is the PDC, ncssamba2 was joined to the domain using the instructions here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC
I had to manually add the DNS information as mentioned on that page. I can add a user and the user is replicated.
However, I have some issues with DNS resolving hostnames.
